Is it possible to only have the night sweats without the hot flashes during the day. I just woke up and I am wet from head to waist. I fell asleep earlier today because I had a procedure done earlier today and woke up about ten minutes ago and I am soaked.

I do not have the what I refer to as hot flashes during the day but only the severe night sweats...I went almost a week without them but seemed to have returned this week....

What causes them to be so severe at night verses during the day...I seem to have only very brief moments during the day which usually is associated as much with chills as hot flashes.

This is driving me nuts....

Dear'Timeless'
I honestly believe anything is possible in this journey but like Floater I have no idea why you get one and not the other.I have had the soaking sweats at night time I would get up drenched and my hair sticking up as if I had had an electric shock!

To be truthful they only stopped when I started the HRT,but this my personal decision and am not trying to push anything on you. From some of the Posts I have read many ladies experience great relief by using Primrose Oil and various other supplements.Am sure you will hear from then soon

Try to avoid caffeine and alcohol .Have a warm not hot bath before bed.Try to use thin cotton sheets and keep your bedroom as cool as possible.Perhaps an overhead fan?

Wishing you all the best

God Bless

Timeless:

I totally have the nght sweats. Not every night and I am not cycling regularly so that makes sense. I had them after giving birth to my chidren so I know its hormone related. Mine are drenching too and I have to change my PJ's several times a night sometimes and am often freezing between drenchings. Nice! right? ugh!

I take nothing now to beef up my estrogen but I belive this has something to do with falling E levels hence its occurring after giving birth.

Good luck with your choices.

i also only have them at nite for years, never in the day -it *****.

I too have night sweat 2-3 times a months, mainly midcycle and premenstrually, this is how I know my period is due in a day or two. Night sweats are same hot flashes that occur during the sleep. It normally happenes when estrogen level changed rapidly, mainly drops.
Since estrogen fluxes reset internal thermostat, your body is trying eithert to heat up or to cool itself, that is causing sweats or chills, it is a natural mechanism.
Many women have night sweats much earlier, even in their 20s, and also after giving birth, when hormones drop big time. I recall having those in my late 20s and early 30s even, not on regular basis.
I just sleep through, most nights, but I can feel the sweat on my chest and my hair all messy and wet in the morning.
I am really glad it does not happen during the day at least. wink.gif

Best,
I.
