I know I could do better with my food intake but it's hard. Last night after I got home from work I took off my socks and both ankles had "circle dents" from where the top of my anklets had been. I sit 8hrs a day and I know I probably ate too much salt but this isn't the first time. Swelling seems to be worse in the warm weather and today is the first day in months I could get my rings on....now I can't get them off
I need a low/no salt low/fat free low/no calories low/no carb FOOD...besides water WHAT CAN I EAT???

Hey Girl!
Frustrating, ain't it?? (grin) I have hyperthyroid, so I know what you're saying about salt and swelling. I'm suppose to avoid anything with iodine in it (which is almost impossible) - especially where snacks are concerned. However, I do tend to eat lots of fruits (they're sweet and have lots of water in them) and I also began to buy the rice cakes. (I know, everyone says ick!) However they're really not bad now. They've come out with lots of flavors, carmel corn, cinn. apple, chocolate. They have little to no salt and are ideal for when you want something crunchy. You can also have a snack of peanut butter - I now buy the smart balance kind because it's low in sodium and has lots of omega 3 & 6 in it. Sometimes I dip apple wedges or celery in it, sometimes I have peanut butter toast, it too makes a good snack. Why not do a google search on low salt foods, there's countless websites dedicated to 'healthy living', so it shouldn't be all that hard getting some ideas of what you can work into your diet that contains less salt.
I know it's hard giving up so many things that taste good. On top of having to watch my salt, I have IBS, so things that are low in sodium are also things I can't eat because they can trigger a flare-up, and thanks but no thanks. I simply do my best to compromise - I bake steak fries because potatoes are naturally low in salt (just don't salt them). I only eat the chicken & turkey breast meat (it's much lower in fats than dark meat), I eat granola in the morning because it to has less sodium and lots of fiber. Just google some sites, pick out what you like that's lower in fat, carbs and salt and slowly introduce them into the things you eat. In a pinch, get some ... is it direx? The OTC water pill?? That helps get rid of your excess water (course you pee a lot...lol!)
Hope this helps!

I did when it first happened a few years back..She said watch the salt and I got my thyroid checked.

I have gain 16 pounds this pass year and either it's fat or I'm retaining water. My whole legs feel tight! I notice it more when I'm on my feet a lot so I guess your da*m if you do and da*m if you don't.
Told my doctor and he said to cut out salt blah blah blah!
