Ladies, once again, here I am asking for your support. I thank you in advance.
My "chest stuff" continues and in fact, is getting worse. I have no sharp or jabbing pain. No heart palpitations, fluttering, etc. Instead, I have a (now) pervasive ache/hurting across both breasts. I can't tell if it's in the chest wall or deeper - feels either/both ways at times. I even feel a bit "breathy" now as well. I'm not gasping for breath and I can take deep breaths - but I feel like my breath is compromised - like I don't have as much reserve breath. They've thought it was/is costocondritis - so I'm now on my 3rd round of steroids. Instead of getting better, it's getting worse overall. I now have the ache/discomfort 24/7. It's no better/worse when I'm upright or lying down. I'm just exhausted (and pretty worried) from it all. I use heat and ice to no avail.
I've had 2 chest xrays in last 4 months, 2 EKG's, a bone scan and an MRI on my neck/throat (that I'm checking to see if it also showed chest/lungs). All of those were normal. All blood work was overall normal.
It's truly driving me crazy - I can't get away from it. At times it aches so bad it makes me nauseous. At times it also causes me to worry about what it is/could be since it's now getting worse instead of better.
I will be contacting my doctor tomorrow to see what to do. I just needed to share here and thank you for any support/ideas, etc. Much appreciation, Kathleent

I so feel for you. I've a few episodes of the chest hurting and couldn't breathe that were real bad. They were just a couple hours and the anxiety meds helped. I can't imagine having something like that 24/7. Hope your dr will be helpful.
Sending good vibes your way!
Keep us posted!

Kathleen,
Have you tried magnesium? It's possible that your muscles and airways are tight and constricted and magnesium will relax them. I was given IV magnesium in the ER when I went in for wheezing (never have wheezed before or had asthma) and chest tightness. It worked like a miracle.

I do take magnesium. Thanks for the idea. I just sent an email to my doctor asking for "what now" .. hoping to hear sometime back today or tomorrow. This is rough. Interestingly, I can't say I'm having "trouble breathing" per se - I'm really not. It's just a constant ache/hurt that never leaves. Thanks again, K

I would sugest for a good massage, could be a triger point causing all those problems.

How about a heating pad, just to warm up the muscles. If nothing else it may just feel good. I feel for you and hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks for suggestions. I do get a weekly massage and I also get PT. I do heat and ice every night as well. I too hope we get some answers/relief soon. It's tough to work and maintain energy by the end of the day.

(((((kathleen))))) - i'm sorry to hear that your chest achiness is constant & worsening. as i have told you before, i get all of the things that you have described, but have not had it for as long as you have had to endure it. i'm really glad that your testing came out good, but i so hope that you will be able to find some relief soon. being worn down by all of this unrelenting misery makes it all so much worse.
i get the breathing problems & nausea as well, often at times that i am experiencing pain flares in the chest. actually, alot of things seem to go wrong for me at one time like that, but eventually lift (& then resurface down the road a bit). may it lift soon for you. sending all my best wishes & prayers, & many hugs,
ellen
