Hi everyone , I'm new here. I'm 55 and had a hysterectory 10 years ago. I still have my ovaries. I started having hot flashes 5 months ago. Some during the day and evening and a few at night. I considered them to be managable. My nasty mood is another story. About 6 weeks ago they completely stopped. Not even a few. Nothing. I've described my hot flashes to many women and they have said that it sounded like I was having them. Full body sweating starting at my head and neck straight down to my feet, lasting about 5 minutes. So, is this a normal thing? My mom and sister both had full hysterectories at about 40 so I have no family reference. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

That's how I started. It seemed to cycle, a month of hot flashes, a month free, a month of hot flashes, a month free for a couple years. About 6 months ago it's been constant all the time, day and night, and very intense ones that can last 5 or 6 min. I hope you don't get a time where they are constant like this! I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

No telling! I hope that your body has evened out and you have adjusted. Hot flashes can come and go. I am still in peri and having a terrible month with them.

So what your saying is that it happens that they just quit and then start up again.

Never can tell, everyone is different. Hope you're one of the lucky ones and they don't!
