The last couple of months I have been experiencing Restless Legs at night. I am fine but about 1/2 hour after I go to bed, my legs start aching and burning and I just can't get comfortable. This keeps me up until after midnight when I finally get to sleep. It seems to be worse premenstrually. Has anyone else had this and know what is causing it?

I get this, and have found it is from a lack of magnesium and potassium.I also get it worse if I have not been active-so at least a 30 minute per day walk really helps.GOD-bless

If the magnesium doesn't help, then try iron. There are many articles and studies showing that low iron stores (ferritin) can cause RLS.

hi sunnylou,
i get something similar to what you are going thru. i get this tingly tight, heavy sensation in my right leg. seems to bother me mostly at night when i am going to bed. very scary. i'm thinking i have a blood clot in that leg or something, but according to my gyno a blood clot doesnt present this way. i also get leg twitches and jolts but seems like only that leg. it happens whether i am having my period or not. don't know what it could be, but i sure am hoping its hormones. i do have herniated discs in my back, so it could be stemming from that. i don't know. i just know that i'm scared about it and know you must be feeling the same. just thought i'd let you know you are not alone. take care girl

i'll be praying for you and i both to get some relief

sunnylou, I've had restless legs syndrome (RLS) most of my life. Hunt around on the threads here, as I've posted once or twice within the past six months or so with information on how to avoid it. PM if you can't find it. Good luck.

I get it too a lot more in the last 6 months. Sometimes it feels like it's in my whole body. Drives me nuts at night when I'm trying to sleep. Last night was a bad one. After a couple hours I got very irritated and started yelling at my body to stop already. Another couple hours and I finally got some sleep. Ended up with the shakes, etc today of course. Oh well (sigh) there's always tomorrow.

For what it's worth-I had this when I was bleeding heavily and anemic-I took iron and it went away-since the bleeding issues have resolved I haven't ever had it again

I had my D&C last Thursday for endometrial hyperplasia, I was hoping that it would have helped the restless legs some too but hasn't seemed to. I am still constipated too so I am never sure what is causing what. I guess I have to give everything a couple of weeks to heal up to see where I am at and then start working on exercising too and maybe I will start feeling better. I do take a prenatal vitamin everyday for the iron and I take a calcium, magnesium and zinc vitamin daily too.

I have had it in peri too. I buy Hylands Restful Legs and it works for me really well. I was out of it while on my period this month. I finally made it to the health store and got some. I have taken it that last two nights.
