Just received a private message with "please help" - Do not cick on it ---

I just received a PM from someone who has not posted before. All it contained was the two words "Please help" which were actually a link. I just deleted it as it seemed suspicious and could potentially lead to a site containing viruses etc. Just to warn you folks if you get the same in case you are tempted to click on it.

What is it EP? I haven't got one btw.

Hey EP - I just posted about this too!!!!! I got one also from this same newbie with just those two words in it! I deleted it immediately as I was suspicious too.

It was a link to Adult Friend finder -- I dont think its a virus though. It could be a disgruntled former member who is sending these links... but who knows.

I should have known better, Squigs -- I opened it....

The probelem is those sites often are riddled with viruses too. Interesting so far it is us two Brits that have been targeted EP!

I opened it, and as the screen was loading realized it was a spam (I closed it before I could see what it was.)

I don't think it had a virus attached because I have really sensitive anti virus software on my computer, and it updates every night, and I had no "virus warning."

So I wonder how many of us have received this - it would take ages to send them out individually.

If lots of us received it - then there must be a way of PM-ing lots of people at once.

Alice - i did the same block thing - is shows all the people in that list who ever PM you but they are not blocked if it says allow next to them. Once you complete the ban, you will see the difference in the list. It confused me too!!!

That may be a possibility. I'm an early riser. My hubby gets up at 5:30 and so do I. Since I work from home, I just get a cup of coffee and stumble to the computer to get some work out of the way.


I'm in Florida, it's 7:56 AM right now, and we're EST, so out west it's not even 5 AM yet. I imagine once the other US ladies get on they'll probably be reporting in too.

I'm running my anti-virus software to see if anything happened. I wouldn't think that just opening a link would be harmfult, but yikes, who knows??

I got one, too. I openend it and closed it right away and deleted it. Then came on to read any new posts and see others have gotten it, too.

I got this too and deleted it and then I read this thread. I'm glad I didn't open it.

I got one too and I am in the US.

I haven't got one, but I don't either!!!!....but then I'm not a Brit ...lol

I just looked at my blocked list...AA and Dearest were on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I never put them on it, ok now I'm mad....I would never put them on on there....

I just got one also marked HELP ME. I opened it and it was a sex site. I QUICKLY closed it!! I'm PISSED!

Anna - if it says allow next to them despite it being entitled blocked list then they are not blocked. I blocked our spammer this morning and she had the word ban next to her name afterwards. For some reason the site lists everyone who's ever emailed you in the blocked PM list but look for the word ban or allow next to their name which is the true indication.
