The other day, I noticed a light to medium brownish color "band" across my fingernail (horizontially), it is the "ring" finger, but on the right hand. I can see "new" nail growing up under it, which is normal regular nail color.....I do have long nails, and it's not so much the appearance of this "band" or "stripe" across my nail that bothers me, it's the wondering of WHAT IS THAT, that gets me.....you know..the WHAT IF?!!! As I said, it's like a "band" going horizontally across the nail, about maybe, an eighth of an inch wide .... it's not very obvious, it's between light and medium brownish .... now, i suddenly noticed today, that it seems to be starting on the index fingernail, and your middle finger as well (I always forget what that finger is called!..lol) .... it is VERY light on those two nails, but if you look CLOSELY you can see it just beginning .... now naturally, i start to panic.....thinking it's my liver or kidney or something, because once, quite a while ago..i read that if there is something wrong with you liver or kidney, you can have a brownish band, or stripe, appear on your fingernail, horizontally! so, as you can imagine,....I'm panicking once again! OH, THIS FEAR THING IS GETTING SO OLD!!!!!!!


Anyway, if anyone else has this, or has had this, please, let me know! I should mention here, that I had something similar to this about 2 yrs. ago, but on the other hand, and on the middle finger (I think).....however, THAT was more like a VERY THING dark brown line, that ran horizontally across the fingernail ..... that got me very nervous too! geez!
But, that was 2 yrs. ago....and it eventually went away. So, I don't knw what to think!

I only wear CLEAR nailpolish,...I wear HARD AS NAILS by Sally Hansen ..... I also let my nails "breathe" many times too, i try to give them time without the polish. But, the polish is CLEAR ,so , it can't be that.

OH, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DAY, WHEN ALL THESE WEIRDO SYMPTOMS STOP, AND I GO BACK TO BEING NORMAL...I HAVE FORGOTTEN WHAT THAT'S LIKE! (I wonder if this could be hormonal????)

ONE MORE THING.......i forgot to mention as well, that I had been dealing with a tooth abscess latley, it is under control now, but i was on amoxicillan for almost 3 weeks! I don't know if that would have any bearing on this ... but it's a thought!

Yes I thing I have the same thing, my index finger on the righ hand looks just like you said, but is in the very corner of my finger and looks like I have dirt in my finger and is not fungus at all and some of my toe nails look the same as well. But I have this problems for many many years, but I really thing is hormonal, cause my husband is going thru some imbalances and some of his finger nails has some dark dots in it. So I don't worry about it, I just don't care anymore, hate to said this but I just soo tired of all this body mine game. I have to live life the best I can.
