Hi All,

Just wondering what people's thoughts on this are. Now I actually have irregular periods to go with my anxiety/internal trembling/sweaty palms/fuzzy head/etc. etc. symptoms.

I'm 46 and for the first time in my life I've skipped a period. I got two pregnancy tests during the skipped month just because I couldn't really believe it wasn't pregnancy. A few days ago, I thought I was getting my period. But for three days, it's just been brown spotting. Along with this I feel like crap -- exhausted, achy, hormonal headache, really sore breasts -- basically like bad PMS.

I keep thinking, why won't I just get this darn period? What's up???

I thought some knowledgeable women on this forum might have some insight and maybe suggestions for addressing this.

Thanks,
Missy

It sounds like it could be perimenopause to me. Have you been to your gyno lately? He or she could probably do some test to see if it is peri and to rule out anything else.

I had brown spotting for years in between by periods. It was sooo annoying. bcp;s helped stop all of that. There is still some breakthrough bleeding but nowhere near what it was before. I hope this helps.

It could be peri as others have suggested. Are you on any new meds or anything? I've also had meds to stop my periods and cause the spotting as well as breast leakage...

I'm not on any new meds. My doctor tested my FSH and LH and said they were normal, so I'm not in peri, according to her. Missy

Dear Missy
I am no Doctor but honey you are about the right age for Peri. Some women are in full blown Menopause at this stage.Your description of your symptoms also sounds about right for fluctuating Hormones. The levels that they tested are within the 'norm'according to the Medical profession, but you know your own body.

Try keeping a journal of all your symptoms for a couple of months. Then either go back to the Gyno. or find someone who is more knowledgable about Menopause.

There is lots of help available to alleviate your symptoms so be very pro-active,even nag if you have to,and insist on being taken seriously and helped.
P.S.Get your thyroid checked out too as this can be a little Devil too!
Keep us posted
Warm Wishes

Dear Missy,

Like Elizabeth said, you are probably in peri...my doctor said I wasn't either and now looking back I am sure that was the problem! Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't necessary show up in the lab results, we really have to be persistent in order to get proper testing and the quality care that we deserve! You know your body and are your best advocate!
