hi ladies,

i have been getting a weird sensation in my right leg for the past few days. right leg feels completely different from my left, and it feels tingly and tight especially the bottom of my foot. its like something is crawling right up my leg but on the inside. now i'm thinking that this could be a blood clot? and it's getting me very nervous. i feel this mostly at night, in the daytime is ok except right now as i type this. i also had my gyn appt. last monday with a doctor who specializes in menopause and she took a hormone test which came back completely normal. so does that mean i am not peri? now i am beginning to question what is going on with me. i would appreciate any feedback you ladies can give me. i am sooo tired of running back and forth to these doctors, it's becoming too expensive, but at the same time i don't want to sit around till something could possibly get worse then will be too late to take care of.

have a great day ladies and thanks for your replies to this

Hi Savannah,
I don't think you've got a blood clot...What are the symptoms of a deep vein thrombosis?
The typical symptoms are pain, tenderness, and swelling of the calf. Blood that would normally go through the blocked vein is diverted to outer veins. The calf may then become warm and red.

I do think though that you should get your leg checked out. Hugs Antique

Maybe a pinched nerve somewhere? Maybe you strained that leg doing something--even if you don't remember. smile.gif I never remember how I get bruises or scratches anymore. If you are concerned about it, get it checked out.

I'm thinking pinched nerve too. My left leg gives me trouble. I have osteoarthritis in my knees, the left being the worst, it doesn't always hurt, just feels weird, . I can't explain it. I have days where it worries me alot and days when I just accept it. Yeah, I say, wait 2-3 weeks if it's still there, check it out. Well, I say that, but my crazy anxious mind would make me get it checked quick. At least then I can have some peace of mind. I hope it feels better.

I would never tell someone NOT to get something checked, especially if you're thinking it may be a clot. Better safe than sorry.

However, I had very similar sensations in my left leg. I had it checked and it was not a clot, but symptoms of sciatica and triggered by a sprained sacroiliac.

There are no conclusive blood tests to tell you you're in perimenopause. That's why most of us are here seeking comfort and advice from one another. It's frustrating!! Doctors just don't get it and apparently aren't interested in getting it.

How old are you? If you're anywhere from your late 30's on, you are most likely perimenopausel.

hi enough,
yes, it's the same for me. it doesn't hurt, just feels like i have someone else's leg, and the other is mine. but the herniated discs i have are on my right side of my body. it is most bothersome at night when i am in bed either resting or getting to sleep. then it moves up to my thigh and in the morning nothing just the bottom of my foot always seems as though it's asleep. hope you feel better soon as well. it's nice to meet others going through this mess, so we don't feel so alone, but i just wish it would be just not getting a period anymore and that's it. not all this crap that goes along with it.
bye and take care

You definitely need to be checked by a doctor. From someone who had several clots in the main artery of my right leg (when I was in my 20's), the pain was utterly excrutiating! It was like my leg was boiling in acid. The ER doctor kept telling me that I pulled a muscle, then I went to my regular doctor and he suspected this was something more than a pulled muscle. I got a dye xray in the leg, then I was immediately admitted to the hospital and hooked up to high doses of heparin in an IV for 10 days. I had to take coumadin for 6 months after the hospital stay with weekly blood tests. I could've died if the clot broke off and traveled to my lung or heart. Please get it checked out.

BTW - I forgot to add that my calf never swelled or became red. My clots were deep in the artery, not the exterior veins.

experienced Restless Leg Syndrome for a while before finding out what it was. The sensations cause one to move the legs so as to relieve the feeling. It comes and goes but is most troublesome at night.

Hi savannah i really don't think you have a blood clot , my dad had one in his calf and believe me you will know!!! the pain is so bad he said it felt like someone shot him in the calf. I myself have been experiencing weird senstations and pain in lower calf and back of knee, had many test done just shows swelling and fluid. I am betting you have somekind of spasm going on. I wish you the best if it keeps up or hurts i would see the orthopedic doctor. Terry

Wow you are so blessed! I know several women who have had clots in the lungs and legs and they did say it hurt. Thank goodness you got in to see the doctor quickly...geez! My mother had a blood clot in her leg as well and she said it hurt...

In regards to the the pain in the leg, I've been getting that when I use progesterone cream although it is a tightness that I get when using it...rather odd but it doesn't go away until I stop the progesterone...no pain just tightness...

Sometimes I get leg pain. Restless leg syndrome...it's a fancy name, eh?

If you have had it checked out by your doc, and he seems to think all is ok, then you might try this.....

Leg cramp Causes...

Leg cramps might be from too much E, but that is probably not the case.

Leg cramps can also be the frist sign of dehydration believe it or not.

Cramps are often caused by a lack of potassium, resulting in an imbalance.

*************This is my bet ~ I would place money on this one....****************

A mineral deficiency of calcium and/or magnesium is probably the most frequent cause of leg night time
cramping.
The doctors would love to medicate you with their new high-powered restless leg pills that have ever so many bad side effects...... L:)

BUT....

I bet that it is a lack of calcium & magnesium. When children get growing pains in their legs, they need calcium & mag. I take a liquid magnesium supplement (cheap from the health-food store) along with calcium tabs and milk. This works very quickly.

Great Grandma used to give her kids hot milk. (calcium)

Supplement magnesium with milk and calcium. It works like magic!

Try drinking water & take calcium. LOL! (come on, ya got to smile...it might be just that easy...just try it and let us all know.)

Truthfully, it is very disturbing to have leg pains and frightening. I am sorry that you are having a hard time.

I keep on remembering what my Great-Grandmother taught me. She had so many remedies that I have found to be backed by medical science. The drug makers should have talked to her first. They could have save billions in research money. smile.gif

Nah Shebee, they wouldn't make any money because they couldn't patent those "natural" remedies... laugh.gif
