I am having head aches in the back of my head and neck and sometimes presure on the side of my neck. I have had all the heart test and they came back good and I have had a CT scan of my head but it is still causing me a problem. It continues to the top and front of my head. I am 3 years post so those crazy hormones should be settled down. Can this be stress because when it happens I get stressed. I seem to have more and more anxiety, there are times I just want to jump out of my skin.
Thanks for your help,
Glen

Three things come to mind.

1. Perhaps a chiropractic adjustment might help? Many people carry stress in their back, shoulders, and neck, and it causes headaches. Just today my 12 yo son was in tears for the second day with neck pain and a headache, so we took him to the chiro. He said DS had very tight ligaments and they were pulling things out of whack (sorry, don't know the technical explanation for this) After working on him, DS neck felt better and the headache is gone.

One time I was at a seminar for health professionals and got the aura that precedes a migraine for me. There were several chiros there and one cracked my neck and bingo! the headache was aborted. Any time I had the aura I always got a killer migraine, but not this time.

2. Are you ingesting aspartame/Nutrasweet/Equal? It's in many things--beverages, gum, breath mints, ice cream. It's a big trigger of headaches.

3. Are you eating anything new or more frequently than usual that could have MSG in it, which is a big trigger of headaches.

This could also be sinuses. My mom had severe pain in the top of her head and we went to the hospital and they did a brain scana nd it turned out to be sinusitis. Hard to believe. This is the beginning of the allergy season so that may be the culprit. The neck is def. where we hold tension, I use a warm compress at night and keep it on my neck while sitting or laying down for support and to ease the pain.

Feel better.

Thank you both for the insite. I do drink diet drinks, but I always have, do you think it could cause it now ? I have never been to a Chiro but did consider an accupunture. As far as eating, I seem to be eating everything that doesn't eat me first dry.gif When this starts the anxiety really kicks in and makes it all worse. What came first the anxiety or the headache ? Isn't that the question in meno on any pain ?

Most definitely, yes, the chemical sugar substitutes can cause problems even after years of using them. Aspartame also causes depression, anxiety, aches and pains, headaches and vision disturbances.

But a big problem with artificial sweeteners is that they actually cause you to eat more and gain weight. The body thinks you are giving it something sweet, so it shoots out insulin to handle the sugar that really isn't there, resulting in sudden low blood sugar, which causes hunger and cravings. I definitely eat more if I ingest artificial sweeteners.

I highly recommend the book "Neurotoxins--the Taste That Kills" by Russel Blaylock, MD
