I'm wondering since i've been getting dizzy randomly if this would be more hormonal or a variation of my migraines with aura....anyone else experience this either with or w/o migraines?

I have been diagnosed in the last year with Migraine Associated Vertigo, where as before last year I just had migraine headaches.

It all started with intermittent dizziness and then had a sever attack last July which really turned my world upside down.

So it would be hard to say that it was all hormonal but I think hormones play a part of changes in migraine symptoms at least that is what I have been told.

Do you take any medication for migraines? The MAV part is tough to treat as I have found out over the last year but have found some improvement with diet modification , lifestyle changes and very strict sleep patterns.

When you say dizzy can you elaborate?

One of my worst and persistant symptoms in peri was dizziness. It was not accompanied by a headache at all. I just felt off balance a lot of the time, eventually it reached ALL the time. Since I started using the BHRT the dizziness now only comes around if I am very tired. I am convinced it is a symptom of estrogen being too low. Not sure of how the mechanics work exactly...probably something to do with the inner ear....but estrogen seems to have fixed the balance/dizzy/lightheaded issue for me. smile.gif

I have had dizziness since starting peri. This dizziness is not associated with my occular migraines nor my "normal" migraine. I believe my dizziness is hormone related because I do not have it all the time.

I can so relate to the dizziness right now. Last night I suffered with it to the point that I thought I was going to be sick, really scared me. No headache or migraine...just dizziness. My sinus issues have flared again too, not sure if that is related to the dizziness or not.

I'm new to this board, but this topic is one of the main reasons I came here.

I have been having dizziness issues as well. They seem to come with a rush of heat (no headache), but a couple times the dizziness was so intense, I felt I might pass out. There's also a pressure (or aura as some have called it) sensation.

Twice I've had them wake me up out of a sound sleep and I had to get up and turn some lights on, because the darkness made it worse. It only seems to last 5-10 minutes, but it's really intense when it hits. I had to go outside to get some fresh air...that seemed to help.

So I was wondering if the dizziness was normal too. It does seem to be cyclic....shortly after mid-cycle (ovulation) up to the time I actually start. Those two weeks are touch and go for me. Some days good, some not so good.

The dizziness can be scary though. I was hoping to get other opinions on this....is this something other people are experiencing as well? What symptoms do you experience?

Take care,
Shawna

What other symptoms do you have. Migraine can happen without headache. Although it can also be hormonal.

Please tell me what you mean by dizzy and sensation. Mine is more like wavs in my head and body when they happen.

Try getting a cold compress and putting it on the back of your neck when it happens. Have you discussed this with your doctor?
