I posted in the anxiety section, but I think this is worth repeating here. There is a wonderful psychologist who makes CD's using guided imagery and affirmations. She has one for Mastering Menopause and also others for stress, depression, stress relief, and a host of others. Her website is
belleruthnaparstek.com. I have used several and they are very, very good.

Hi Dor,
I have been touting Belleruth Naparstek's guided meditations for the last year on PS! Glad you are reminding our sisters of them. THEY ARE THE BEST, and have gotten me through the most horrible times of my symptoms! Just her voice alone can transform the most anxious moments!

Have a great Sunday,
Jonesy

Jonesy, Didn't see any of your postings about Belleruth, but so glad to hear that others are touting her too. I agree, she is amazing and just her voice can be so soothing. Keep touting. I really think this woman has a lot to offer. The CD's have helped to make me more aware of what is really bothering me while at the same time to relax and feel better.

my favorite line in the Mastering Menopause CD is when she reminds us that our bodies are our oldest and most trusted friends. It always brings a tear to my eyes when she says that because I foget how true it is and has been.

Have a great week,

She also says it in her relaxation CD. I agree, nice thought. Do you ever find yourself crying when you listen to them? Like, it brings out emotions that maybe you have buried or that they give you an opportunity to listen, be alone, and cry? I do think crying is a healing thing, but I was a little surprised at how the CD's bring that to the surface.

I very much liked her website but was overwhelmed at the choices. Do you ladies recommend anything as a first pick? Anxiety, depression and mood swings are my worst symptoms.

Thanks!
Dor
The "Relaxation and Wellness" CD is very good - very calming, very nurturing. The "Depression" one is also very good. Don't think you can go wrong with either one. I alternate days with these two. Many of the affirmations are similar on both and very helpful. I have not listened to the "Menopause" one, but would imagine that too would be very reassuring and calming. Don't get too confused by the website. Just pick one that feels good to you based on how you feel the most. If anxiety is the worst then choose the relaxation one. If depression is hard to deal with then pick that one. If you are looking for an overall menopause boost then choose that one. Try one and see if you like it. Her voice is so calming, her words very healing, and the principle is sound. Take some time out of your day or evening and just sit back and listen and let the world slip away. They really can help.

I completely agree with Dor-- you just cannot go wrong with any of them. I own the menopause CD and it got me through the worst of the anxiety and depression not to mention even some hot flashes! And yes Dor, I do cry when I listen to them....not all out sobbing, but I find as I am listening an unsolicited tear will find its way down my cheek. They are very cathardic (is that how you spell it?)tapes!
Dor
Thank you Jonesy for answering my question. No, I don't sob either, but I will notice that sometimes tears do roll down my cheeks. I agree, they are cathartic. I don't have any problem with the tears, in fact, they feel rather good, very cleansing. And, I can feel a change within myself too - letting go of some of the sad and feeling better day by day. Thank you so much for sharing with me.
