I posted earlier about Zoloft (actually generic Zoloft) and hair loss. I'm afraid it's getting to the point where I'm going to have to get off this stuff or I'm going to look like Kojak.

My recent attempt to wean myself off of the drug did not go well at all. (Thought I might end up back in the hospital.) So I'm very nervous about the prospect of switching. Has anyone done this? Do you have to completely wean off the first before going on the second?

Truth be told, I'd rather get off the SSRIs altogether and try Wellbutrin. But I don't know if that would help my depression and anxiety.

Ugh. I'm so scared to go off the generic Zoloft but really don't feel that I have a choice and I'm scared.

Any thoughts?

Sukie,
I did switched from Lexapro to Paxil and it worked great for me. I was on Lexapro for 4 months before I switch over the next day with no problems. It did take 6 weeks to make me feel better. So for me it just took some time to get the full benefits. I'm still on the Paxil with no side effects. I hope this helps you a little.....

chaotichar,

Thank you for sharing your story. That does make me feel better. Hopefully I can get on something that doesn't cause these weird side effects (also have memory issues and bloody nose in the a.m. when I blow my nose).

Hopefully better days are to come.

Sukie:
I switched from zoloft to celexa successfully. You really have to wean from the zoloft very gradually. I decreased my dosage down to 25mg and then switched over to celexa. It still took awhile to feel good...maybe 2 weeks after the switch. I didnt have any problems with zoloft other than weight gain. If it werent for that, I'd till be taking it. Good luck.
