Ok, so I am still.................in perimenapause.....good GOD at 53, it could go away anytime now...really! I was put on HRT 7 years ago because of severe vaginal atrophy & heart plaipitations.....that has helped alot. anyway I still get periods...as brief as they are.....and I get INSANE for at least 10 days a month....I mean postal....obnoxious, mean and I am just a bi-atch!......once my periods gone, so is it......its like I am possessed 10 days a month. My OBGYN just prescirbed me 50 mg of zoloft....taken 14 days prior to my period. The day I start, I stop the Zoloft. She saids they have had great success in curbing.....excessive PMS.......has anyone tried this???? I'm game for anything.....I have some other issues besides the PMS, Post traumatic syndrome from an accident, but I do not want to take a AD all month long....I normally just take a Adivan or valium when I am super stressed & that helps me fine.....but I am curious about the 14 days Zoloft.....I know they do this with prozac & some others. rolleyes.gif

Don't have any personal experience with AD's but a friend also was recomended Sarafem for just prior to her periods. She googled something like sarafem and/or prozac for pms chat (not sure exactly what) but found some women who had tried it for what you are describing. She ended up going on a bcp this past month for her PMS symptoms because she heard too many negatives about doing the AD's "part time". Her doc prescribed a bcp with a more "mood friendly" progestin. She will also be taking it for up to 6 or 9 weeks uninterupted THEN will take 1 week of the inert pills. Sorry I don't have anymore information for you but she is currently at work. Regards, J

Oh, one more thing. If you go on the bcp you could ask you doc about using a vaginal estrodial cream during the inert pill week. You will absorb some of the e systemically and that should lessen any "rebound" peri symptoms. Not pushing bcp's just laying out one of the many options we have.

Just curious Buffy, but are you still on HRT? Have you tried upping your dose during those 10 days of the month? You could then go back to your normal dose. I know there are some women who posted they only use HRT during those 10 days! Unfortunately, I can't help with the Zoloft issue but it may take some of the stress away during that time.

Peace and Blessings,

Yes I am still on HRT..and I do not want to up the dosage.......I was put on it for vaginal atrophy, I never had any anger/stress issues until the last year, I might be getting closer to actual menopause now.....and no way would I take HRT & BCP........I just know quite a few women have taken paxsil, prozac & other AD for two weeks a month for super bad PMS.

Hi
I took this drug one time for sleep and totally had a bad experience. I felt like I couldn't swallow, and felt totally wacked out. The next day I felt like I had the 24 hour flu/ hang over.
