Is it normal to have achey low back pain and pelvic pain that seems to last for a week or so in Peri? Its like that achey feeling lasts forever now not just a couple of days!like it use to (before peri) I'll be 47 in June and just wondering if any of you girls have this ...my Ibs has actually gotten worse is this normal to have more stomach problems too!!I had an ovary removed due to scar tissue last yr. and it seems like everything has gone downhill since then!! Could the ovary being removed have sped up my journey to Menopause? Any seasoned advice out there would be appreciated!!

Hi cari:
As far as having an ovary removed I cannot say. On the low back and pelvic pain, ugh I get it too. Sometimes it lasts for a couple weeks before I actually start, then I get relief for a bit and then it is back. I did not have this problem until I entered peri!!!!
As far as stomach problems, I have been experiencing them more frequently as well.
Dontcha just love the peri ride NOT!!!!!!!!!!

I get this as well. It wraps from my hips to the back and sometimes across the stomach. The aches keep changing location. I also have IBS and have been told these are symptoms of IBS.

I had my left ovary removed 4 1.2 years ago. And recently have had the same pains you are describing. I was told it is most likely adhesions (or scar tissue that is inflammed).
Can I ask why you have your ovary removed? I had ovarian cysts and am facing more surgery now cause they have popped up on the remaining ovary. Did you notice peri menopause more since you lost that one ovary? Im just curious!

Yes I have noticed more problems since having this ovary removed! I had the ovary removed when I was actually having my fallopian tube removed because it was filled with fluid and that's when the doc saw the scar tissue on the ovary, she had to remove the ovary because the scar tissue was large, I didn't know scar tissue could become inflammed. The Doctor said she put some kind of film in there to prevent any more scar tissue from forming.

Oh I had the mesh put on the back of my uterus to help prevent adhesions. Im not sure if they actually get "inflammed", but it was the only way I could kinda of describe it.
Its comforting to know Im not the only one who has noticed this stuff since I said bye bye to my ovary. I can only imagine how its gonna be when this last ovary goes next month, lol.....

Missy don't worry! your probably lucky it'll all be over with_I Also have a slow growing cyst on my other ovary too,I'm hoping it will go away but you never know i just hate the Lap surgery (the prep mainly) , i suppose I should get it rechecked because maybe it's causing the discomfort ,although it's pretty small, I just have had all this pelvic area pain since that ovary was removed!!

Hi ladies. I'm in peri too. However I do have all my girly parts. I found the ladies on the hystersisters site to be very helpful with info on symptoms and hrt info. Some kept their ovaries some didn't. Some lost one along the way, etc. Docs unfortunately have told women things like, "your other ovary will take over, etc." But, some of the women describe what you are both saying. Good luck and hope I've helped. Regards, J.

I second the HysterSisters site. While I've not had any parts taken out either, there's some wonderful info on that site.
