Yesterday my son and I had to run some errands. I happened to bump into this gentleman who I haven't seen in a long time. I asked him if he remembered me and told him my name. He thought for a second and said"Oh yes, but you used to be a much smaller woman, didn't you"? I was speechless.Yes I was a smaller person, but I was 20 years younger. Of course I didn't say anything, I was speechless. With all these emotions running through me with this perimenopause and I have to deal with that.He had better be glad my rage didn't kick in.Anyway it really hurt me. I am just venting so never mind me. Just needed a place to get this off my chest.

I think I put this in the wrong place. It should have been under the weight topic. I am sorry.

I have had weight issues most of my life, so have heard them all. It still hurts when people are rude, ignorant and insensitive but for the most part I figure, if you like me then accept the whole package. If not, don't waste my time. There are more important things in life than appearance.

As we all know, hindsight is 20/20 but I might have done one or two things in that situation.

I would have said "Well, you certainly have a lot less hair than I remember..."

Either that or I would have given my hormones free reign and said, "Wow, that was rude!" And just walked away from the clod.

Don't let it ruin your day. Everyone is beautiful in their own way and God loves you just the way you are.

The only thing I might add to this is: "Well, you certainly have a lot less hair than I remember...and I remember you being much KINDER"

Sheesh...Booky is right, don't let it ruin your day. If you want to lose weight you can, but he will always be an a$$!!!

Wow, some people can be thoughtless and insensitive....man. I would have been speechless too, just because....well, WHO talks to people like that??? Consider the source, kenc, and move on. No point in wasting your precious energy on a jerk like that.

You know it's not only men that put the proverbial foot in the mouth...

Sometimes your relatives can be mean, too.

When I was in college, my mother and I went to church together one Sunday. The visiting priest happened to be one of our old parish priests from when I was a kid. He was a tall, good looking man and there wasn't a girl in my class who didn't have a crush on him--priest or not! He was a real cutie!

Well, we went up to say hello to him after Mass and he shook my hand and said, "Well, Janice, you're all grown up!"

"And out", Mom said without missing a beat. I wished the sidewalk could have opened up and swallowed me right there. I cried all the way home and all Mom said to me was "You know, your bladder is too close to your eyes".

I've never forgotten that and it still stings when I think about it.

Dear 'kenc'
Of course we are all your side. What a silly little man.I wish you had slapped him from side to side.
Am always happy to bump into friends I haven't seen for years but have no interest in their weight but what they are doing intheir lives

Let it go.

God Bless

Kenc, I just wanted to add my two cents. I've never been fast with a comeback--I'm one of those people who stands there in silence when I get insulted and then later on (two hours later) I can think of about five good comebacks. But the man who said that to you was extremely rude. One time when I was a teenager and very self-conscious the way most teenage girls are, I went shopping for a slip or something and asked the saleswoman for assistance. I'll never forget what she said. "Well, you're certainly not a petite!" And she was fat!

That was so funny Leanne.... laugh.gif I hate seeing people for that same reason, horrific weight gain! I've had people say some mean things to me as well, I just say "nice seeing you again" and go on my way! Although I must admit that those types of incidents usually cause a crying spell, but I'm sure he regretted it afterwards!
