I got this odd feeling of overheating last night, felt like a hot flash but with it came a kind of mild sense of feeling faint. I opened the window and stood here for a few seconds....I used my blood pressure monitor cause I've been wondering if my bp is skyrocketing or dropping. It was low normal but the pulse rate was 80. I few minutes later I took it again and the pulse rate was 65. What the heck is this? Anyone know if this is related to hotflashes?

I often get that, particularly at night time... I think it's related to fluctuating hormone levels. It's a bit scary. I had a full medical to check out heart problems, because my doctor thought that I should. I'm glad I did because I know it's just another annoying menopause thing [ my heart is OK ] and I try and ignore it. Diffficult, bit I'm told it goes away eventually. wub.gif Hope this helps a bit.

hi, there is such a conditional called postular hypotension.....this happens upon laying then sitting up or standing. my pulse goes off the charts when i get a hot flash then anxiety follows.....yes, time for me to get my heart checked, although scared, because i smoke cigs and it certainly isn't helping with the high pulse.
i hope you understand it may just be one of those things, yet we tend to scare ourselves. i'm a pro at that!

Hi, I know just what you mean, only with mine, my heart starts to pound and then I get a hot flash. Sometimes it has even awakened me at night, which is both scary and annoying. I am currently wearing a halter monitor and keeping a diary because my doc wants to see if we can track if there is some "rhythm" to when these happen. So, if they continue, I'd get checked out just to put your mind at ease. Sounds like many, many women have them, though. I don't know your history, but I am two years post-meno and up til now was not really having anything too weird other than hot flashes. Everyday you think, "What next??" blink.gif

I've had this "hypotension" thing, too. It is no fun. And yes, I'm a pro at stressing and scaring myself, too. unsure.gif
