Hi Rox ... thank you! ok, does this ever get WORSE before your period? I am 2 days late, and i'd say this ache thing started a few days ago, which would have made it a few days before my period was due. Does this happen to you BEFORE your period, and if it does, is it WORSE then? Now, my dr. says he "suspects" costo ... basically because it's not my kidney ... but, i've had this happen before, but this time, IT'S WORSE! geez! My husband has been sitting here on the couch with me all night, just messaging and tickling my back and waist .... just to HELP it SOMEWHAT.... when I've gotten this before, his messaging me has usually helped, NOT THIS TIME .... ok, is that NORMAL for costo.? (for the the QL, perhaps?) My dr. had said, you can have lesser and more worse type of attacks, is this true for not only costo. but for the QL muscle thingy as well? Also, how long does it last for you? When this happens with me, it'll last for about 4 days ...sometimes more. UGH!
rox....thank you for replying! I will look forward to your (and anyone else's ) responses ..... THANK YOU GUYS...
My darling for me it is lasting indefinitely at present and yes it can get worse premenstrually and especially around ovulation time (usually day 13 of my cycle is absolute doom and gloom). I don't know much about costo but when I first started having peri symptoms before my big crash in 2006 costo of my lower ribs was one of the first things I remember suffering with. It would come and go but what I have now is a combination of everything I think after being sick 7 weeks ago. I think I have costo, GERD, hiatal hernia pain, hyperventilation syndrome, sore achy fingers and throw in the reinjury of my QL muscle and some piriformis discomfort and loads of stress because of it along with a ton of health anxiety and you have a very unhappy camper
I often wonder if it's my kidney too but when I first injured my back last year they tested my kidney's thinking I may have had a kidney infection etc but all was good so it was my lower back (which of course I knew already) and I have been having treatment on it ever since on and off. The only thing that gives me some relief from the tightness of the muscle is the acupuncture. My physical therapist uses a long needle and just goes in and out into the QL muscle releasing the triggerpoints, it's rather painful but effective. It's not like regular acupuncture where they leave the smaller needles in the skin, this way she hits the triggerpoint and when she does you sure feel it, it's like a lightening bolt and the muscle jerks. I have a triggerpoint therapy workbook and it explains about these triggerpoints and it also says that estrogen helps keep them at bay so low estrogen makes sense to why we suffer so much with muscle discomfort.
I'm thinking I have some costo issues now too cos by the end of the day I can't even stand my bra on anymore it's just too constricting
