Hi there..
]
does anyone else get this..it's like a sharp, then achey pain on side of left breast..almost in armpit..no swelling or lymph node swelling at all...comes and goes, but when it hits, it almost takes my breath away for a few seconds...

I find I can make it happen by pressing on the area myself as well...about ready to ovulate in my cycle....all of breasts feel achey and hurt to push on ....I've always had fibrocystic breasts....but this is new...off and on today..

anyone? I would appreciate the responses in order to stop feeling so worried.

thanks

Don't worry! I get those a lot, and they can be very scary. At first I thought they were heart related, but after reading on here that a lot of women have them, I stopped worrying. I don't know what causes them but I'm assumming they are just another peri symptom. smile.gif

I was jsut wondering since you have Fibroids in your breasts......are you drinking alot of caffine lately? I know when I do, my fibroids do tend to hurt. You might have one close to a nerve and its pressing on the nerve? Just a guess. I get those pains, and man they hurt. Its like I can't even take a full breath of air! Ive had mammograms, and nothing is ever wrong in the girls.....So thinking its something so easy puts my mind at east.....

Hi Lisa, don't worry, I get this as well! But for me, it can happen at any ole' time of the month! .lol...YIPPIE!
Yeah, it's hormonal, but I know it's scary, and painful ..... the last time that thing started in with me, was back in Oct.....so, i began to take EVENING PRIMROSE OIL, and to tell you the truth, it hasn't returned! You can pick that up at most health food stores, I prefer the smaller "mom and pop" privately owned stores, they know what they're talking about, versus, the GNC chain type stores that seem to hire young people to just do check out ..... it's a world of difference. But, I'm sure you can also purchase it at places like WalMart .... try to get the LEAST additives possible, ...

But, don't worry, I'm sure it's just peri ..... smile.gif

thanks you guys...

it's been achey all day..with occassional sharp pains..kind of in my armpit area..but when it comes in a wave it does take my breath away...
it's scary..I feel like it's just sitting there causing the sob...not too bad ..comes and goes...far left breast/ in arm pit...

I don't drink any caffeine due to problem with heart palps, pvcs..so it's not that..weather maybe? It 's pouring here today....?

Hi I am one of these ladies that has had this terribly scary experience. I upped EPO, dropped caffeine and it eventually went away. Aspirin did help me with the pain too. It is very reassuring having this place to talk about this condition. It's how I started coming here in fact...googled sharp pain, left side and sure enough PS! There's lots of stuff on here about it.

Hang in there,
Suzanne

REally? where is the info..how do i find it? I'm going crazy here thinking i'm going to have a blood clot or soemthing..it comes and goes..but when it hurts..it's sooo painful on top of left breast to touch, and down the left side of breast...I can make it worse by pushing on it...what the heck is causing it? It's making me feel like i can' t breathe or something..

I got that from time to time.

I thought it might be shingles, but that was never confirmed. The pain eventually went away on its own...

Weird, though.

I also have the achey (not so sharp though) pain from one armpit, across my chest above, right on, and below my breasts, into the other armpit and across my back. That pretty much covers it. It feel like pms breast soreness with a little heartburn buzz, with an occasional sharp twinge to remind me it's there. Annoying! I kept thinking it was heart related, but I read so much here that I have relaxed a little about it. Aspirin or motrin helps but tylenol does nothing. I usually feel this way the week before my period starts but this time it started up earlier. I have found way too much info on google and wind up convincing myself I have every disease out there, so I've tried to stop googling symptoms just to save my own sanity--or what is left of it. Hang in there- a phone call to your dr or nurse might be in order just for reassurance too. hugs to you!!

I get this a lot. For me it is muscular and occurs usually a day or so after lifting something heavy, like an overloaded grocery bag or small dog. Also, try googling "costrochrondritis." That is an inflammation of the cartilage around your breastbone. I get this too and it does produce a lot of breast pain for me.

Lisa,
Don't you find being a nurse is a detriment sometimes? Every new thing that happens to my body I'm thinking of the worst case scenarios that I've seen in patients or in my studies. I hate it.

But I would say if it's not abating soon that it does need to be checked. Could it be an infection of some kind?

nurselisa - I don't know anything about it but the condition pleurisy came to mind. It may be the wrong area completely and I'm talking nonsense but thought it worth mentioning.
nurselisa
yes, being a nurse does make you think the worse.

I barely slept last night..and when i did i dreamt about coffins etc...

today the pain is a little bit better..not having trouble breathing so ruling out pleurisy at the moment. Still have pain, but is less with Nsaids.....feel flu like and crappy today also...a lot of bathroom runs..so maybe just hormones?

Lisa,
This exact same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago! I thought the worst. It started with transient sharp pains all over, even my breasts, with a horrible low backache. I started having very loose BMs, unusual for me as I am always constipated. Awful fatigue, felt like the flu, but not quite. I was sure I had ovarian cancer or some autoimmune thing. Had tests, everything negative. I was chilled quite a bit also, but never a fever.

Then I started feeling better, then 12 yo son started complaining of stomach/intestinal gas, cramping, nausea. No vomiting. He's a very active kid, can't sit still for even a minute, yet he was in bed for a couple days. No fever. When I called him in sick to school, the secretary said it's going around. Now DH is feeling out of sorts, with queasy stomach, fatigue.

It's a weird thing, I didn't think it was the flu because every time I've had the flu I KNOW I'm sick, I KNOW I have the flu. With this thing, I really didn't think I had the flu, and the symptoms seemed vague and not obvious.

So maybe you caught this bug?
