MY DR DIAGNOSED ME WITH PMDD (PREMENSTUAL DYSPHORIC DISORDER). DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS? JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHAT HELPS. THANKS

The first thing that caught my attention was the name...my daughter's as well smile.gif

Well I haven't been officially diagnosed yet, but I sure fall into all the symptoms. At the recommendation of a friend I started using Black Cohosh and St. John's Wort on Friday so I'm still waiting to see if it makes much of a difference. I'm just coming off my period so my mood is relatively leveled off at the moment. Waiting to see what if anything happens in a couple weeks when my next period rolls around. I'll let you know if either of these seem to help smile.gif

Hang in there and know that you aren't alone and at the very least there's always an ear around here willing to listen and someone going through what you're going through. I've found that I have much more piece of mind since finding this site.

I was diagnosed with this about ten years ago. Imo it is basically really bad pms. I was prescribed Sarafem at the time and it seemed to do the trick.

PMDD is nothing more than a hormone imbalance. I suggest you get your hormones tested in the luteal phase of your cycle and then use BHRT to balance them.

EASIER SAID THAN DONE. I'M ON MINE FOURTH OB-GYN AND I'VE ABOUT HAD IT. HE SAYS I HAVE A CHEMICAL IMBALANCE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HORMONES, BUT YET ON MY PAPERWORK, HE SAID MY DIAGNOSIS WAS PMDD (HELL0? HORMONE RELATED?) AND ALL OF SYMPTOMS ARE MONTHLY CYCLIC TO A TEE. GRRRRR!!!!!

Sarafem or Yaz is given for this...I had the same thing and Sarafem worked great! Black Cohosh (caused terrible cramping) nor BHRT (which jacked my already sky high blood pressure up) I balanced out on the Sarafem.

Always keep in mind we are all different and what may work for one lady, may not work for you. It takes some time and testing of different options. Also, it helps to have a doctor who is open to this. I haven't seen a gyn in years. I go to my primary doc, a great woman, who always listens and is willing to test different options with me. The last gyn I saw was worthless and the one before her was even more worthless. Sorrry to vent about this but the medical system is changing very rapidly!!

Good luck!

Shelby:

My daughter was diagnosed with this about three years ago and they put her on Yaz. It has been the miracle for her. Before she was treated, every month for about 5 days, she would vomit, run fever, have horrible cramps, the bleeding was flood level constantly, moody to extremes, and in general ill.

Now, she has the occassional headache but the other symptoms have disappeared.

I can remember having this same problem when I was a teen and they put me on some type of BC pill but I cannot remember what it was. It was not as effective as Yaz is for my daughter.

I hope this helps some.
