Full Version: ovulation makes it worse

Do you gals feel that most of your symptoms are worse right before and right after ovulation? Mine seems to be really horrid at that time.
After I ovulate I start feeling better for awhile up until I start my period, then I start on a decline again.

Progesterone is highest around ovulation and estrogen has taken a dip. Several days after ovulation, the estrogen increases again, but increases less as we get further into peri.

I never used to have the awful symptoms I developed in the past 2 years--anxiety, palps, panic, high bp--until my estrogen took a nose-dive. Then when I would ovulate until my period came I would have all those symptoms due to the high progesterone and low estrogen.

I went to my doctor because my symptoms were so bad after ovulation and he said that PMS can be made worse by perimenopause so he did something unusual: instead of putting me on BC pills, which i wanted (even though we are still trying to have our 1st baby) he put me on Prozac for the 10 days-14 days after my ovulation. Let me tell you, it works wonders! Mind you, I wasn't depressed, but he said the way Prozac works, it helps with the neurostimulators or something like that and it helped my IBS tons!

Dear Suzanne
This is true of Prozac and I have heard of it being a God send to many women with hormonal problems. The good news is that you will probably be able to wean off it very slowly when you get pregnant.Although,as far as I know a small dosage in Pregnancy is not harmful.

Obviously this is something you would need to discuss with your Doctor. When I was pregnant with each of my three children I remember being hesitant over Asprin.

Anyway am so pleased you are enjoying relief from very annoying symptoms.

Best Wishes
Elizabeth

Let me get this straight - you just take Prozac 10-14 days a month? You don't have any trouble coming on and off of it?
