Oh boy, I thought I wasn't going to see this day & I made it!!!HAHA. Went to my appt., got my breast exam & pap done. Then we talked about the hormone issues. I was amazed that we were definitely on the same page!I was armed with my list of symptoms & my knowledge from reading and searching thru the net. I had my previous lab work with me. I was telling her what I read about levels of estrogen being 90-100 or higher and to compare mine! She told me that she likes to see levels be at 75-100 or higher!!I talked to her about my options. And she said when I come back in 5 weeks for my follow up we can discuss what I want to do. She said that what they normally do for women with such bad symptoms as I am having, she will give an estrogen shot to the bootie ohmy.gif . So, I agreed to do that. She said I should be feeling better pretty quick. I'm not sure if I feel anything yet??But?

She drew lab work. FSH, Estrogen, Testosterone & Progesterone. I asked her about the Thyroid, and she said generally if the TSH is normal everything else is ok??I go back for a follow up, I could request that be done I guess?I no how important people stress on getting all the thyroid levels checked here, I was disappointed when she didn't want to do that.

She thought it was odd that the clinic I went to at first didn't draw FSH. She said that this is an indicater of being in full blown menopause. But that clinic obviously didn't no what they were doing?!?

She said the estrogen shot will wear off in about 4 weeks & gave me samples of things if I wanted to try them. She gave me a spray estrogen to try, a gel & more samples of the Vivelle dot just a higher dose. And when I come back we will talk about what route I want to go, and mentioned the compounding options.

How long do you think the shot will take to kick in??Should it already be taking affect??

Anywhoo, I just wanted to let you all no the appointment seemed to go pretty good! She never disagreed with me at all. I sounded bossy in what I wanted, but I guess it was about me and what I need so?I didn't want to leave until I got what I wanted. HAHA

Amber I'm so happy to hear how well your doctor visit went!! It is awesome that she is so on board with getting your estrogen levels up and I'm glad she tested all your hormones. I've never had an estrogen shot so I don't know how it feels or how long it takes to kick in... But I'm ENVIOUS!! LOL! I think I would love to get a big shot of estrogen biggrin.gif

It's neat you get to test out all those different kinds of estrogen delivery systems too. I hope this does the trick for you and the estrogen is what your body needs to feel better.

HUGS!

That's wonderful! Especially since she gave you a shot so you could get relief sooner. I've never heard of this before. I love it when they give samples. :-)

No, No more periods due to hysterectomy. She said it would last about 4 weeks. And she gave me the samples to play around with for that week that I may need it, my follow up appt. isn't until 5 weeks. So I will need something until I see her next. Then, I will discuss what method I would go with. I don't think I would want the shots continuosly??I think she did the shot just to boots me up.

I have heard of an estrogen shot!!! I remember my Ex MIL used to get one every 4 weeks, because she had had a complete hyster including ovaries. She was still doing this 9 years ago, when I split up with her son, and she was well into her 70s then! I had not even thought of using them. I actually had forgotten about them until I was reading this thread!! I wonder if a shot of E wouldn't be GREAT for those of us who experienced the big ugly crash!! You know the one that took MONTHS to come out of???

I am glad you found such a co-operative doctor, that is great!!

Hi Amber,
May I ask a question? How old are you and what caused you to have a a hysterectomy?

Thanks,
Tracey

I am 31 & had a hysterectomy when I was 28. I had cysts bursting on my ovary & my periods were messed up. The only way I knew I was having a period was when I started, I had light brown discharge for a few days?

I almost think if I knew what I no now, I would have never had the hysterectomy!I have been dealing with all of these horrible symptoms 6 months to a year after my surgery. I would have just dealt with the cysts & the messed up periods.

I have always been an emotional person, it was like clock work with my cycle. I would ruin everything in my life if I didn't have my husband. I hated this, hated that, wanted to give up on this and that, and quit this or that. After that time in my cycle I would be fine? After researching and reading, it is crazy that I probably needed help then. And all the help I have been getting is AD'S and mood stabilizers that have probably only made things worse.

Why does a person wake up with such a nervous stomach, and have to take anxiety meds to get rid of it???I started this at the end of December. I don't have anything to be nervous or anxious about???I just don't understand!
