hi girls,

all i can say is HOLY MOLY! WE had a pizza this evening, and ordered a lot of raw garlic on it, i love garlic and it's very good for you, and right now, i am dealing with a bit of a tooth abscess and am on amoxicillin, but wanted to take more garlic. So, we UNSUSPECTINGLY ordered a pizza with LOTS of raw chopped up garlic bits. The top of the pizza was COVERED in raw garlic bits, and although i did think it was a bit much (so I scraped some of it off my slice), I still ate the slice....now, I've had raw garlic before and yes, it can be very very strong and burn your mouth and so forth....so, i was expecting that. I carefully ate this slice of pizza, and the garlic did burn my mouth a LITTLE bit, not much really, and I was also able to get a lot of it up under my top lip, where the abscess is, which i wanted to do, bec. it draws out the infection.
So, as I sat there, with this garlic on the abscess, it was getting hotter and hotter under there, (which i expected), and i tried to keep it there for a few minutes to deal with the infection .... well, i realized it was getting a bit much, so i grabbed the coke, and down it went....now , remember, i had also eaten the entire slice with all that raw garlic on it.

OK, well.............about 45 minutes later, something weird and scary happened.... as i was sitting in front of my comp. here, I began to feel very strange, it felt as though the top of my head, on the right side, then the left, was THICK....weird, but true...as if there was wet cement in there.....THEN, that same feeling began happening on the two sides of my nose, and then, down my throat, on the left side only! IT was very strange and scary, bec. at the same time, i began to feel VERY detached and withdrawn .... I felt odd, i felt "off", not myself .... I could hear myself talking but I wasn't in there, and while I'm used to that happening during a panic attack, THIS WAS DIFFERENT.....I felt lightheaded and off balance as well.... it began to almost feel as if my throat was so THICK, that i felt i couldn't get air, but I could....(now, i know that's a very common symptom of panic, and i've had that many times, but again, this was diff.!) ... then, that THICK feeling, moved down to the left side of my abdomen .... which made me feel as though i couldn't push the air back out, after breathing in! OH MAN this was something! At which point, i got up, and told my husband, and began panicking..lol...he said, IT'S THE GARLIC! Can u imagine?! I didn't believe him at first, i thought i was havng some sort of stroke or something! .lol... so, I gave our second oldest son a call, because he always has these type of reactions to diff. foods...and asked him if he'd ever gotten anything like this from raw GARLIC.....and sure enough, he sayd YES! He told me it would last for about an hour, which it has, and then, slowly, it would subside. I helped myself to a xanax, because i was still panicking, and by now, FINALLY this insane reaction has stopped.

HAS ANYONE HERE EVER HAD THIS REACTION TO GARLIC? dry.gif

well, I haven't had that reaction, but I have had a LOT of weird reactions to other "harmless" foods or vitamins or whatever! Garlic DOEs give me major gas, however! dry.gif Joan

Well I have GERD but it's usually well under control with diet etc but recently after a nasty virus I increased my Vit C level, drank heaps of hot lemon and honey drinks and took strong garlic tablets to help fight off the bug and it left me with a bad bad flare up of GERD.

Anything is possible in this whacky journey of peri menopause unsure.gif
