My friend has this happening....
When she goes to Florida for the winter and goes into the swimming pool, she either gets a vaginal bacterial/yeast infection....has anyone had this happen?? Any thoughts as to what could cause this. She is freaking out!
Thanks for your help with this,

Well I am not a swimmer but maybe because of the wet suit. Best thing to do is get a prescription or buy OTC meds.

I also get a yeast infection when I'm in the pool. It started happening when I started using progesterone cream. Even taking a bath could throw things off.

I think there is a direct link between high progesterone and yeast infections or yeast overgrowth for some people. It definitely is a problem for my dd!

I get yeast infections often, as well as just plain alot of yeast. Only recently did I realize its monthly. Way back when, when I was in the middle of one, I was told not to go into a pool or hottub because the chlorine and heat could aggravate the condition. I'm wondering if your friend already has some sort of existing yeast problem, so when she hits the pool, it could be affecting things further?

I know alot of you ladies are going to freak out when you read this but one of the best homeopathic remedies for me to cure BV bacterial vaginosis is to use a hydrogen peroxide douche.I swear it worked for me .When my hormone problems first began I got a bad case of it and a prescription cream from gyno to cure it but it was back in 3 weeks. So i scoured the web and ran across earthlink.com and read all the post from other woman and decided to try it.So glad I did !! It was gone in 48 hours and has never returned

I have always been prone to these infections and had to give up swimming in the pool because of it, after finding a definite direct link. I think its the chlorine and/or other chemicals in the water.

Had the same thing happen to me at my annual in April. Of course I was mortified!!!!!! By both the yeast infection and him telling me I had it. To my knowledge I hadn't had one before!!! So I just felt gross after!!!!!
But I did use the Monistat 3 day treatment, worked like a charm!! Actually my Doc said just to use the store brand, its the same thing, only cheaper!!!

I was having problems with a tooth a few years ago and dds was putting me antibiotics for it (end up with a root canal but that's a whole 'nother thread LOL) and a few weeks later I'd have a yeast infection!!!!
The last time he prescribed it, I called my gyn and asked about using acidophilus tablets proactively to see if I could fend off another infection (that's the stuff people look for in yogurt to combat yeast infections) and he said go ahead and try it, it does work for some woman. And it did for me: I did not end up with a yeast infection!!!!
Since then I've had what I'm sure was another YI (hormone readjustment time I'm guessing) so I tried the tablets again and it worked that time too....
Check with your docs about it but it is natural and as I learned, YIs are common are we go through peri/menopause so I have a bottle in the refridge....

Cheaper than those one day Monistat treatments too....

My Dr. told me today the OTC ones don't work...said the only thing that really takes care of them is the diflucan pill, which is prescription,of course.I don't believe that because what is sold OTC now used to be by prescription only...... i don't think Walmart brand is any good at all....i know they all say the same ingredients on the box and the store brand ones are cheaper, but the couple of times i've used the walmart brand it hasn't cleared it up.
