I am not sure what to tell my boss- she is very nice, but she is 24-lol- Yesterday I had to go to the hospital (written in my first panicked post on the forum) and today I am just taking it easy, trying to absorb that my life is changing, sad, recovering from yesterday...but I feel that she wouldn't understand that this is a legitimate reason- I am entitled to my sick day off, but its not like i am "sick" it is hard to explain- i need the day off cause i am going through some life changes?
And when I am at work, i work- but lately I get a little irritated at small things, and feel fuzzy and forgetful- how can anyone expect to get a promotion or a raise during peri menopause?
How do you approach this with your boss?

Hi Roberta, I hope you feel better soon. I would just tell the boss that I am not feeling well and probably not get into too much details. I am sure she will understand that everyone will have sick days here and there.

Roberta,
I agree....you don't owe your boss the details. Just let her know you are not feeling well, under the weather, etc.
Hope you feel better soon.

Ditto. I wouldn't offer too much information...just that I wasn't feeling well and leave it at that.

When I started going through this I told my young male boss that I was having hormone difficulties and that there would be times I didn't feel well. I left it at that. If you don't feel that comfortable then I'd stick with just "ill."

Hi Roberta.
I absolutely agree with all the above, all they really need to know is that you are not feeeling well. everyone has up and down days .
No harm done in chucking a sickie every now and again..
