So I was sitting at a restaurant and reached back on my neck to move my hair and felt two small lumps on my neck. I freaked out of course. Not sure how long they have been there.........I just "found" them so now it's on! I have not been sick recently. I do have a skinny neck so maybe they are just visible on me? Anyone else? Is that normal?
Thanks
Janet

At any given time I believe you can feel tiny movable nodules, which are lymph nodes in your neck...I too panicked once when I felt them - I have a skinny neck too!....I have not googled this, but I was told it is nothing harmless (by a Doctor).
I think they are felt more when your body is doing its job and fighting off infection....I may be wrong, but I will be interested to see other peoples comments.

I totally understand. I have heath anxiety which means things like this freak me out! I found one recently on my 13yr old son. I took him to the doc as I had heard that if they stay up longer than a month, they should be checked. Well the docs weren't concerned. They said if they were bigger than 1cm and lots of them then it would be concerning. They gave me antihistamine for him as we thought it might be allergy causing it, but it made no difference. After a further 4 weeks I went back. They did a blood test to reassure me but were still not concerned. All was clear. Then I saw another doc who said people with slight figures do often have palpable nodes. All this was last jUly August - the nodes are still palpable on him but he is not unwell and is very fit etc.
Another thing - last month I had a spot on my earlobe which I forgot about. It took it's time going and actually got a bit infected but knowing it would go in time, I forgot about it. One evening 2 weeks later I totally freaked because the node in my neck just below my earlobe came up huge. I had been really stressed earlier that evening about my sons grades and a bit panicky and my neck had felt really tight as it does occasionally if i am stressed. I started to panic it was a blockage in an artery or something and not a node at all. I went to see the out of hours doc at midnight and it was only on the way there that I remembered the infected spot. I felt such a complete wally but I let him check me out anyway. Localised infections can also cause a node to come up.
(((Hugs))) I'm sure you are OK. I would forget it for a month, put a note in your diary and if still there when you see the note, just get the doc to run some bloods to reassure you.

I have a lump in the back left side of my neck, it has been there for years. I went to the doctor after I found it and he wasn't sure why, but he asked me if I color my hair (yes duh, no grays here) and he said that may have contributed but to watch it and if it gets bigger, go back. Well it never got bigger, I still color my hair and the lump is still there. And my neck is not skinny but when I turn my head, the lump is visible.

Janet,
I am 41 and have recently been diagnosed with a solid module by my thyroid. I have yet to get the biopsy on it but it may be something common in women in menopause. I am hopeful that it will be benign.
