Full Version: Progesterone Cream and Arousal Question!

Hi there

I thought I would ask this question as we are all women in this together.
I am on my second month of using progesterone cream and today a strange thing happened. I used the cream as usual rubbing it into my lower abdomen. After a short while after (I would say about 20 - 30 minutes) I became aroused and my husband had left for work so there was not a man insight and there was nothing to stimulate this feeling. I was just doing my usual early morning housework. It was quite a strong feeling of arousal too.
So my question is has anyone else experienced this.

No, actually progesterone cream killed my libido. It is known to do that.

Progesterone is a precursor for most other hormones including DHEA, estradiol, testosterone and cortisol. Could the progesterone be converting to testosterone? That could explain the arousal?

It can do that in some very lucky women. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of them sad.gif

Well ....I did quite like the feeling as its been such a long time since I have felt arousal in that way. Now if I could control it and make it happen when I wanted it to that would be perfect.
Would still like to know or find out more about all this though.

Enjoy it while it lasts, Jazzy biggrin.gif

I'm also taking natural progesterone - My cortisol, DHEA and Testosterone hormones are extremely low. I hoped that by taking the progesterone cream I could bring these levels back up.... But really, I'm not sure which pathway it's converting to...

Sariah -- Sorry to single you out but any thoughts on this?

Progesterone can convert to cortisol, estrogen, or testosterone. The problem is that everyone's individual body chemistry is so different that there's no way to know which pathway it will go down.

I do have a theory, however, just keep in mind it's just my theory and may be totally wrong.

I think that some hormones, such as DHEA and progesterone that can go down various hormonal pathways, go down whatever pathway may be deficient. For example, if a woman is low is estrogen, then the DHEA is converted to E, or if she is more deficient in T, then the DHEA will be converted to that.

Of course, this is a simplistic explanation and there may very well be many other factors that come into play that have nothing to do with my theory.
