Well, it looks like just taking hctz for my bp isn't cutting it. I went to the dr. yesterday and was prescribed the lisinopril /hctz . I really hate taking new meds...I have this fear of some horrible side effect. Does anyone take this? Can you give me some positive feedback and calm my fears? Thanks ladies!

I only took it one day but had to quit because one of the side effects is an annoying cough, so if that happens, don't worry, you are not getting sick. I knew that was a side effect but couldn't believe it could happen with just one dose, but my doc said that it can. But it doesn't do that for everyone, so give it a try.

I too had a the "nasty cough" from lisinopril...of the many different types, It brought my blood pressure immediately into range. I just couldn't tolerate the cough. Surprisingly, the doc prescribed enalapril from the same class, and I haven't coughed once. I've been on it for a few days...so I'll see what happens. I also suffered from pretty bad fatigue, but now that the meds are in my system I seem to be doing a bit better. Hang in there.

I've been taking the 20 mg lisinopril/hctz for many years and have never experienced any side effects. You should be just fine. smile.gif

My husband, mom and dad all take lisinopril. None of them have had any problems with it at all. My mom was also taking a water pill with it, but the doctor discontinued that after deciding it wasn't necessary.

raising my hand for the nasty cough too. Dont be scared to take the pill for your bp, it s just the cough. Call you dr and go in and get another med if you cough. it was brutle!

I went in to see my dr and she kept me on it, thinking it was allergies. It was the meds.

I took lisinopril for several years and whilst on it I developed asthma (very nasty wheeze and cough) and was treated with asthma medications. I was convinced that it was the lisinopril that was causing the problem and eventually was able to convince my doctor. She changed my bp medication to Cozar + and I've been asthma free ever since! We all need to find what agrees with us and what doesn't. It's trial and error sometimes. Hope this helps. mellow.gif
