Hi Lisa,
At the tail end of peri I developed the lump in the throat thing. Every time, I swallowed I kinda had to think about it. Ugh! Horrible. I really do think that it has something to do with thyroid function. On the thyroid boards they often talk of weird feelings in the throat. Now I am post, most symptoms have improved but I still think that my thyroid is under stress, not that my doctor will have any of it. I now get a lot of hoarsness and congestion in the pharynx but thank-goodness the 'lump' feeling has gone.
I hope that your 'lump feeling' disappears very quickly. smile.gif

Lisa I came across a post the other day on here that explains what the lump in throat sensation might be it even had a link to a site that explained it in video format. I printed it off for future reference and glad I did now. At the bottom of my print off page was a link to the post I think so I hope it works when I put it on here, here goes:

I hope I go this right I will check it myself after I post this.

I myself often get this lump in throat feelig and liken it to a ball of snot stuck there that I have to swallow past at times. It came on really bad last year when I was tapering off an AD and having severe withdrawal symptoms and I was stressed the max.

I hope it will put your mind at ease...

I can sympathize with you. I was distraught over having the lump in the throat feeling a few months back and the health anxiety seemed to magnify the problem. I even experienced a clicking/popping feeling when swallowing. I scheduled an appointment with my doctor and had my thyroid tested, which was normal. Doctor talked with me and explained that in my case, it is a common symptom of anxiety. Within a week after the doctor visit, it disappeared completely.

I hope you feel better soon.

I also get this. At the beginning of this nightmare, this was one of my many symptoms. I had an endoscopy, a colonoscopy and thyroid checked. All were ok. The feeling comes and goes. When I have to take my relpax for migraines, I feel it even more. It almost feels like a zit or something in the throat. Weird. My mother also complained of this and nothing was ever found. It has to have something to do with the crazy hormones. Now I just ignore it as much as possible and hope that someday it will leave never to return again.

All the best to you.

I have had it and was told tow different things. One, anxiety and the more I think about the worse it seems, so I believe that. Also, I have tmj and was told by the doctor after doing x-rays, that I have damage in my neck that actually makes the feeling really real. None of these are dangerous though and if I stop thinking about it, it does get better. Also, when my sinuses are problematic, that condition gets worse. I hope these things may help.
