Ladies,
I am on perimenopause, age 41, on Zoloft, Ativan, DHEA and Estradiol gel 0.1%. I have yet to get my bioidenticals until I get pam smear results and I don't feel much relief. I've had all the other horrible symptoms BUT the hot flashes. I started a soy regimen today and went and bought some soy isoflavones capsules and soymilk. I plan to take 120 to 160 mg daily of this combination. Has anyone tried soy products to alleviate symptoms? If so, did they work for you? About how long did it take for symptoms to subside with the soy? Did you stop taking meds (antidepressants, antianxialitics) when the soy helped? I'm eager to hear your replies and get some relief in more natural form. I appreciate your replies and suggestions.

I used soy instead of meds. I've posted about my success several times on here if you do a search for my name and either soy or Revival.

I had been on HRT for a couple years when I went off that and onto soy exclusively.

Best of luck!

Just be sure you don't have an underlying thyroid problem, even a subclinical one, or the soy will make you feel worse. It's a known goitrogen (interferes with thyroid function). I cannot take it for that reason. And I know a couple people who swear they didn't have thyroid problems until they started using soy.

Google all the information about soy, both good and bad, so that at least you can make an informed decision.

I have heard from an older lady jusat last year that there was an English study that said soy affects your memory. Anyone heard of that?

Yes, I've also read those studies about soy and memory. The one I read said that there were actual physical changes in the brain that could be detected with imaging studies.

Yes, I was on soy for a while and it did help me with the symptoms and weight loss. I got off of it about a year ago and things have been worse since. Because of thyroid problems, I can't take it right now. I'm not sure if the soy had something to do with my thyroid problems, I think not because of my family history of it. I started the soy after getting off of antidepressants and antianxiety and other psyche meds for five years! I mostly made and drank 2 shakes a day made from soy, soymilk, protein powder, and fruit...

I hope that you have some success with it...
