so I'm struggling with clothes right now. for the past year my waist has gotten bigger and I'm finding it harder and harder to find pants/jeans/slacks to wear that I like. If I shop for what I used to wear nothing fits in the waist but fits every where else. If it fits in the waist, then it's baggy as hell in the butt and the hips and the waistline is WAY to HIGH for me. I don't want super low riders or anything, but would like below the waist not below the b**bs!! HELP! I may be in denial but I don't want to wear pants two inches above my belly button! Any suggestions on where to shop? I do plan on working out again and hopefully getting back into shape but I'm feeling like my waist might never be the same as it was sad.gif I hate going shopping anymore!

any one else having this problem?

thanks!

Muse,
I had that problem last summer when my weight was 20 pounds over. I managed to lose the weight by brisk walking 90 minutes 5 times weekly first thing in the morning. Any cardio exercise first thing in the morning is best cause you'll burn calories through out the day. Also, eating very healthy with only ONE cheat meal per week is what helps. Substitute white bread for whole wheat, whole milk for 1% or soymilk, more fish and chicken than beef and stay away from desserts and fried foods or use only as your one time cheat meal per week.

As far as the clothes, I would go with a mid low rise jean/pant in the women's sizes. Junior sizes tend to go very low as they're made to fit a teenagers short torso. On your tops, get the empire waist line (just below the breast) that flare out to hide the mid section. There are lots of beautiful colors out there. Go and have fun shopping! Gaining a few pounds doesn't mean you have to stop looking beautiful and treating and pampering oneself is the best thing we can do for ourselves.

Don't even get me started on the clothes shopping!! I HATE IT!! dry.gif I have not put on weight, but my shape has changed anyway, in spite of daily exercise. Nothing fits me right any more. Not only that, but I don't like a lot of the styles that are out there right now. I absolutely need to be comfortable....nothing tight, itchy, or with too high of a neckline.....hot flash panic attack in the making!

I know what you mean about the jeans. I have been having a hard time finding some new ones, too. I have my favorite Levi's, but can't seem to find the same style any more. I don't like them above my belly button either.....I think they are very uncomfortable! But I don't like them slipping down too low in the back when I sit down either! blink.gif I gave up for awhile, but may need to begin my quest again!

Good luck!

Hi Muse,
I have the same problem with store bought pants. I am a seamstress and I took apart a pair of pants that fit and made a pattern from them. I make my own pants now and they fit perfectly. On some store bought pants I have taken off the waistband and have sewn 1/2-inch elastic around the waist for more room and use a hook and eye closure to keep the zipper from unzipping. I wear my shirts outside and never tuck them in so no one sees the elastic.

I exercise everyday but my weight and measurements haven't budged in over two years. I have resigned myself to this "new" body and just make the best of what I have.
