My DH and I are toying with the idea of buying a coin op laundromat. I see that a bunch of places don't even use coins at all; just debit/credit cards. Who still uses a laundromat? Do you use coins or credit cards to pay? Ever owned one or known someone who has?
Thanks, girls!

I haven't gone to one in years so I don't know. Why don't you and hubby make a Saturday of it and go check out local laundromats?? You could incorporate a lunch, and maybe have a nice afternoon out?? ROAD TRIP!!!

RR...The only time I have used the local laundromat was when I wanted to wash my king-size bedspreads instead of taking them to the cleaners....I went two days in a row during the week and there were always many people there!!

Robin, we still use one for our bigger stuff like sleeping bags, our comforters off the beds and such. Ours still uses coins but they are TOP of the line machines. Something you could wash a small car in if ya wanted! I'd say go for it but make sure to find out WHY the owners are selling!

Thanks guys. I'm looking to finance a medicum sized coin operated laundromat that is already up and running. Hopefully in a college town. I'd put in wi-fi and serve coffee...from what I'm reading, they're a good investement even in poor economic times, and now that everyone has a car, people will drive an extra 10 minutes to go to a laundromat that is clean. Clean, bright, calming. That's my aim. I'm a bit nervous about the coins. Machines can get broken into, and you'd be making daily deposits of all quarters. I like the idea of machines taking debit/credit cards much better...
