I've been on compound hormone cream since Sept. Bi-est, progesterone and a bit of testosterone. My body still cannot handle stress well. I don't have daily stress but when something crops up, I have major anxiety that can be bad. Do I need more of a certain hormone?? It feels like something isn't regulating during that stressful time.

Darby,
Biest cream has only a small amount of estradiol, plus you are using progesterone, which will exacerbate a low-estrogen state. Many ladies here did not get relief from biest until they either had a higher estradiol to estriol ratio, or switched to an estradiol-only product. For me and others, anxiety is caused by high P and low E.

Amen!
Up the E. Hate that anxiety.

I should have given dosages smile.gif I'm on 3.5mg estradiol and only .25mg estriol. In the beginning I was on a higher estriol and that didn't work at all!

Hi there,

Hmm. That seems like a lot of estradiol. I wonder if you've got too much on board and not enough P to balance it all out. How much P are you taking?
I know everyone is different but I am on 1.5 mgs of estradiol and even though some days I believe I could go up to 2 mgs., I feel really well at this amount.
Isn't there something called a paradoxical result when you take too much of any of the hormones? Basically, your system overloads and creates the symptoms of not enough of the hormone. So, if you have increased anxiety for instance, when taking E and E is supposed to help anxiety then you're taking too much of it.
It's that balance that is so difficult to find sometimes.

Wow, my response to hormones is exactly opposite from some here. Too much estradiol alone makes me jittery while progesterone makes me feel calm and relaxed. My doctor told me that progesterone would help me sleep better, which is does. However I only take it in the "luteal phase" that I create for myself on my pseudo cycle. That means the first two weeks on just estradiol, I feel a little anxious and don't sleep as well, but in the last two weeks when I'm on progesterone, I feel calm and sleep better. But, I have to add that without the estradiol, I would be SUPER anxious and depressed and unable to sleep at all, so clearly, what's needed is a balance of both with individualized dosing. I'm worst on no hormones, better on just estrogen, and best on both estrogen and progesterone.
