I have a question....

I still feel very discombobulated...shaky and not quite all there. Like I'm an airhead but I know I'm not. I am getting very forgetful and I have the internal shakes, feeling lightheaded and don't sleep too well at night anymore like I used to. This is all even after a year and a half of my period having stopped. How long does this stuff continue? I can't concentrate for beans. Can anyone shed some light for me??? Thanks!! rolleyes.gif

Hi sherrypoulin.....I still have the internal shakes (tremors) after no periods for 2 and 1/2 years! I realized last night that I seem to have them less now...but saying that when they do pop up they are quite strong mainly my legs, but do sometimes do the rounds of my body. My feet were the worst for ages. I can feel them in my left foot now but not very strong. Maybe I've got used to them and so don't notice tremors until I think about it. last week I had a bit of anxiety over them because they were strong in my legs, which annoys me because I know it's nothing!! Hopefully they won't last much longer. The worst thing I have now is Hot Flushes no matter what I take they always break through but I'm not taking HRT for it...but
that's my opinion.
Being an airhead comes with it all...LOL...I couldn't even think what a tree log was called the other day!!

Dear'sherrypoulin'
From what I have read from other ladies posts it appears that there is no fast rule as to how long it takes people to feel'normal' again.
Having said that I do believe diet and exercise can help a lot.Try to cut out caffeine and sugar as much as possible and definitely no alcohol till that shaky feeling improves.
Have a warm bath before bed and then sip a cup of warm milk cheered up with a little ginger and cinamon.Very soothing.

We all have these forgetful moments and feel totally foolish and sometimes this leads to anxiety and lack of concentration.
I think it would be wise to have your Hormone Levels checked and don't forget the Thyroid. This gland can cause a bunch of problems.

About three or four months ago I drove to the Supermarket and then got a Taxi home.I had completely forgotten that I had driven my car there. The embarassment when my son drove me back to get my car as he kept on laughing while saying the time had come for me to have a Nanny!

So please try not to worry too much
Please keep us Posted

God Bless
Elizabeth.

I opened my mouth too soon!! After so long of tremors being mild and having a "normal" life they have come back strong!! I'm now trying magnesium in powder form I was taking tabs but a naturopath told me I would have to take 6 daily for them to work so thought I'd try the powder. I feel depressed now sad.gif but I guess we have to keep going. I did think though I have been on the weight watchers program for the last year and my tremors improved, could it be the lack of sugar? I left ww because I wasn't losing weight, not blaming them but I wasn't going to pay each week and not lose any. So of course sugar has crept back in, easter, birthdays etc where as I was limiting my sugar intake. I have my G sons birthday this weekend so I will start again on Monday and see if this helps, try WW's program from home.

Cheers choco

Hi Jan,
I take 400mg magnesium twice a day , combined with 400 IU vitamine E, my tremor is much less, it might be worth a try.

Hi Jean

I like in the U.k, in Nottingham. Where do you live?

I have the internal tremors and shakes, they are awful, I get them right through my body. I am not sure what causes them, they were frightening at first but now I know other people get them it makes them just that little bit easier.

Anyway, how long have you been in meno and what other symptoms do you get?

Sorry for all the questions as I am new to all this.

Hope you pm back.

Hello INA
I am writing this for my wife Debbie who is having a awful time with her peri,,at least we think that is it.She fears that she might have some horrable nerve sickness (ms or others) and I think that it is all related to the peri,,but I am not a DR. so my thoughts dont count.....She wants so much to be better as we all do,,but her nervers are so "twitching" that it makes her think about it ALL DAY cuz it does it all day.
we have a DR appt this week to test the blood and the thyroid and to see how to keep all the other stuff in line that wants to go crazy when you turn 50,,,why cant it be another age,,like 100..and then we would be to old to worry about it,,,
anyway,,she is not a big eater and I do think that a good diet with plenty of vegs and protien is a must,,because when your system is wanting energy and it cannot get it it is gonna "twitch",,but thats me talking,,,
any info you or anyone can offer we would love,,,
thank you for your time,,

Hi Tim

I just tried to PM you but it would not send. I have loads of information as I have gone through a lot sinc estarting the meno. I know its not nice and we think we are going crazy but we are here to help each other.

I have started to take lemon balm. vitamin b complex. fish oils, evening primrose and a calcium and magnesium tab. I am not sue if they are working yet as I have just come off anti depressants for anxiety. I had really bad side effects from them so felt they were not for me. Keep in touch, let me know if you want my email address. I hope the doctors appoiment went o.k. Deb.

Dear 'debsneck'
Am so sorry that your wife is going through such a difficult time. And Bless your Heart for writing in and for all the support you are giving her.A lot of men tend to run away either physically or emotionally.
Please let her read this Post.I was fully Menopausal at 39 and it was hellish.Everyone, including myself thought I was having a nervous breakdown
I did not know a thing about Menopause.I was put on Prozac by a kind Psychiatrist. It helped but my real breakthrough came when I was started on HRT.I got my life back, honestly. It took about three months to really kick in but the difference was amazing.
There are also lots of Herbal and Vitamin supplements that may help your wife if she prefers to go the 'Natural Route"
Twitching happens from anxiety which causes muscle fatigue hence the twitches.Xanax,a small dosage taken as needed will help.
Anyway I am not a Doctor but just speaking of my own personal experience.
Please let us know what doctor has to say.
Good Luck and Best Wishes
Elizabeth

Hi jan, I felt sad reading about your family not being too supportive, iam in India,47 yrs old and in peri.I am having depression,anxiety,sleeplessness,tremors...Best thing to cure it are homeopathic medicines...Alpha TS drops and Tranquil tablets, they work wonders.Secondly one can go in for accupressure,it is miraculous, also deep prayers and meditation help alot.....Priti.
didgens
I am not familiar with TS drops .. but this Tranquil tablets you speak of have belladona ,, or deadly nightshade .. I think I'll skip that one.
