Did anyone watch The Bachelor last night? I noticed that when Jason went home with Jillian to meet her family, she told him about her Mom's depression. She had been diagnosed many years ago and suffered with it for 15 years. She said her parents almost didn't stay together because of it, but that she's fine now. When it showed her parents, they seemed like very sweet people. I would bet you that it was peri-menopausal related. It was hard to watch Jillian talk about it and get so emotional. I got teary also. Real life.....even on The Bachelor!

Yes I saw that too... I'm sure it was tough on her watching her mother go through that...and more painful for her mother!

i watched it and wondered the same thing. i was teary, too, as she shared her story with jason. they are ALL very blessed it "went away" and her mom is "better."
question though... does severe depression really go away or does it merely lie dormant within a person waiting to manifest itself again when triggered by the right element(s)? if it's a chemical imbalance and no meds are taken, what balances the imbalance to make it "right"?

I watched it too. I hope he pics Jill. She's my fave!!
The mom didn't discuss meds. My guess is she still takes them.

Angel - I believe that it lies dormant awaiting the triggers so to speak. With no meds, exercise really helps, but it is of course a Catch 22 situation because one doesn't have the energy to exercise. Then there is the anxiety element to contend with.
It's a terrible thing depression - but when we look around this world, there is alot to be depressed about!
Sincerely,
Suzanne

You're right. All you have to do is turn on the TV.
I can't decide who I like best for Jason. Jillian, Molly and Melissa all seem to be a great pick. But I'm thinking Jillian is a better choice for Tye. She seems more "maternal."

Yeah... I agree. I had her outta there a long time ago. But she WAS sexy.... LOL
Jill is the best all around I think. I really like Melissa too, but not sure the whole parent missing thing went over very well. I didn't think much of it until her friends said that one of them met them once, and the other one hadn't met them at all. Jason is a big family guy, so not sure how that will affect him.
I'm not a Molly fan. She's okay... I'm just not feelin it for her.

Yeh, I agree Jill is the best......but what about when Deanna comes to N.Zealand in next weeks episode?......that could really upset the applecart!
I also believe that her Mum probably had depression during the peri/menopause....so maybe it won't come back, as she may be through it all now.
Great show!.....I love Monday and Tuesday nights tv...The Bachelor and Biggest loser (flicking between that and American Idol!) are my favourites.

thanks for the responses to my questions chickie noodles!
i like jillian and melissa. i'm hoping for melissa, though. i don't think meeting one's family on national tv should be the deal breaker. it's a bit like anonymity on the internet; some aspects of peoples lives are way to private and personal for public consumption. just because melissa isn't shy of being on national tv doesn't mean the same holds true for the parents. plus, maybe they don't even know she's on the show.
regardless whom he chooses, i'm sure deanna's appearance will stir unsettled feelings jason has tucked away for her---good and/or bad!
anyhoo you slice it, it's going to be a fun monday night on the tube!

Don't worry, everyone. I have it on reliable sources that Deanna is not coming back to try to win Jason again. She comes back to "offer advice". Although, who in their right minds would take advice from that nutjob!!

I was very surprised to see that Jason let Jillian go last night. Especially after the scenes in the hot tub leading up to spending the night together.

Before she left, Jason mentioned that she said she was mainly looking for a best friend. I guess that didn't sit well with him. Also, I'm wondering if somewhere in the back of his mind, he kept thinking about her Mom's depression and was wondering if Jillian could eventually suffer that way also.
Now, with Molly and Melissa the only two left, I'm thinking Melissa will be the one he will ask to marry him. We'll see!

i'm thinking jason wants someone who isn't quite as independent as jill or molly; since jillian's "out" that leaves melissa. she's leaned on jason a few times throughout the series when she's felt vulnerable and he's receptive in comforting her. he seems to like that role: caregiver...provider. melissa fits that scenario better than the others.
just a thought.

I confess I've never seen the Bachelor (not much into these reality shows) until the last couple of weeks. I think he goes with Melissa too. I thought Naomi, but I think her family kinda whacked him out

.
But, I personally think you have to be REALLY desperate to do something like this to find a wife/husband. And, I also have to say I was a little taken aback about the last night where he spent the day AND NIGHT with each girl. Ewww....he gets out of bed with one to spend the day with another. Sorry....not what I would be looking for in a future husband. Two weeks before he asks me to marry him, he sleeps with two other girls because he wants to check their "compatibility." Puhleeze....

a friend just sent me an e-mail that said jason used to be a "manny" when he was in college. soooooo...the caregiver part has been in him for a long time. also, where do they find these people for show's like this? are they all in search of fame, or are they REALLY seeking a spouse?
just a sidebar:
another reality series starts up tonight on tvland or nick (can't remember) called High School Reunion---i don't even attend my own when they have them, much less would i appear in a tv show about it.

Well, I for one AM SPEECHLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really liked both Melissa and Molly. I think whatever happened between Jason and Melissa must have been a lot more than we'll ever know. The breakup on national tv was heartbreaking. And the look on Molly's face when Jason told her he still loved her and wanted to have another chance was priceless! What a season!!!

There is a story about there about ABC being in on the whole soap opera type ending. Everyone knew all along that he and Molly were the couple. They duped Melissa into the engagement and then dumped her on national tv like that for viewer ratings. Why would Molly take a creep like that back if it were real?
I didn't like Jason from the start. I always figured if his ex wife dumped him while they had a young child was he a prize waiting for anyone else? Enough with the crying on tv Jason. What a stupid show!

Mar 3 2009, 09:19 AM
Melissa should thank her lucky stars.....Jason is a loser (a cute one, but still a loser). I agree with the person who said it was a soap opera. It's so obvious that this was scripted. All that "well...I think you're making the wrong choice" stuff from Molly was just setting the stage.
Still very entertaining though.

Mar 3 2009, 09:53 AM
I for one wouldn't trust him now....if it was a set up from the beginning, then shame on ABC for allowing Melissa's heart to be broken on national tv...how embarrassing for her!
leanne0721
Mar 3 2009, 12:23 PM
Wow, wow and WOW!
This is what I'm thinkin... Jason mentioned a few times about the lack of "chemestry" and he said something about the "physical" part of his relationship with Melissa. Then in describing Molly he used the word "sexy". I'm thinking there was no big sparks in the sex dept with Melissa, and he thought that given some time it would get better. But it didn't. So he flipped to Molly where there was always a strong physical attraction.
Also...from what I'm reading.. Melissa knew what was going to happen last night. She wasn't blindsided, but agreed to do the aftershow anyway.
BUT... if I were Molly I would have passed. As cute as Jason is, it's obvious now why he has had so many relationship problems.
But I totally agree with kateshadow... VERY entertaining!!
I wonder what's up for tonight?? I'm suckered in... LOL I will be watching!!!

I'm not sure I believe the soap opera story, but this might just turn a lot of people off to watching next season. As for Jason's ex-wife, we don't know who dumped who. But I'm still wondering why any mother would leave her young son in the custody of his father. We'll probably never know the answer to that.
