What are you ladies using for brow enhancement....

I'm heading to Bobbi Brown tomorrow, in search of something to help mine out...

Just noticed that they were thinning this past week....

What next.... rolleyes.gif

Trying to stay positive/proactive...

Bring on the advice, suggestions, your regimen...

I use a stiff little angled makeup brush, and a shade of brow powder one shade or so lighter than my eyebrows, doing short strokes angling upward(gives a bit of a lift you know), filling in any sparse areas(outer third of eyebrow in many women's cases). If it looks a little too done, I smudge that a bit - looks completely natural. The combo I use is by MAC - Walnut/Ivoire - the second color is a highlighter that can go right under the brows, and on the inner corner of the eyes. It's not sparkly though, which gives a softer, but effective look.

OMG...I'm becoming just the opposite....my eyebrows are growing thick and LONG. OY VEY it hurt's like H*** to pluck them out. I think the root goes all the way down to my toenails!!!!! ohmy.gif
Debster52
I use a brow liner by Mary Kay in Blonde..works very well for me
Floater
I also use a stiff angled brush and fill in the thinner areas. I also like that I can manipulate the shape of the brows a little and I give myself a nicer arch than nature granted me.

You can take 10 years off your look, just by having proper eyebrows!! When I see older women with neglected, sparse eyebrows I want to TELL them to fix those brows!!! wink.gif laugh.gif I never do, of course.
binsky
I also use a stiff angle brush w/maybelline brow powder in light brown. My hair is brown & my brows are blonde & if i don't use anything, it looks like I have no brows at all. Go figure.

geez....so no one else is developing thicker brows? I'm terrified of developing my father's unibrow! tongue.gif

I'm allergic to some ingredient in wax....so my esti has to pluck them...and as I said they are getting thicker, more coarse, and long!! mad.gif

I haven't notice a difference in my eyebrows, but my eyelashes are noticeably thinner...heavy sigh! What on earth is that from????

Hi La*la,

My brows are also thinning out and some are even "grey", which I tweez out immediately. Last year I had "Permanent Make-up" done. My brows were always kinda plain jane, so I had them fixed permanently. The precedere is like a tattoo, but not as severe.

I looked through several books, and picked a shape that had a nice slight arch. Now I just tweez the hairs and keep the shape of the new brows, they look very natural and it really made a difference in my appearance. It should last several years and can be touched up after that. I am in the beauty salon business, so I new the person who did the work, always be careful and use someone recommended.

Thats my beauty secret tip!!!

thanks ladies...for sharing your tips.... biggrin.gif

I purchased a little brow kit from Benefit earlier today... It comes with a wax and brow powder...

It will do for the moment.... huh.gif

Permanent makeup sounds nice biggrin.gif But I think I will try getting facials for a while, or even try to grow them back...

I'm probably overdue for an entire style update...

Hi Juliann:

How much did the permanent makeup cost for your eyebrows - and do they look like your own brows?

Hi Juliann:

The cost will depend on the person who is doing it. My friend has been in the business a long time, she used two shades of brown, they look very natural, no one can tell they are not all my own brows. I think the cost is around $300?? Just a guess, mine was free because I do her hair. tongue.gif

The process was easy, I looked through lots of magazines and found the style of brows that I wanted, then I had her draw them on me, she adjusted all the angles, tweezed out and shaped my brows to fit the look, then she did the permanent tattoo. She did use a good numbing cream, it was not that painful. It has to heal and after 3 weeks, they have to touch it up one more time. It was so worth it.

Make sure, if you do it, that you find someone who is really good and uses good high quality colors. Also ask them to see their work, like a portfolio.

Good luck, Juliann

Lara,

I slightly changed the new brows, so I think it opened up my eyes more. Giving them an arch also. I had cosmetic surgery on my eyes, upper/lower. Then I did the brows. This gave me less saggy lids and a more youthful look, I think it really improved. I can look at before pic's and see the change.

I think the eyes are important at my age, but I'm a bit vain, tho father time is catching up!

i saw a commercial on cable recently for ***follicular unit eyebrow grafting***...i think they use your own hair and transplant it in the brow. i would think a skilled/trained doctor would be necessary though to get the brows to lay correctly as eyebrow hair isn't the same as regular hair.
as for me, i either use Smashbox brow powder and wax or Anastasia Go Brow and Anastasia Brow Gel in clear for control/placement. oh and Benefit High Brow gives some highlighting lift to the underbrow area, too! works for me! biggrin.gif

***WARNING*** coastergirl: this procedure is NOT for you wink.gif

I'm on Armour for my thyroid !! Never made that connection(fitnesslady) thank you & welcome to the board....

Would the meds help you keep them or slow their lost...

They have been thinning for the past 3 years... but this past birthday threw me over the edge...

It took me several months to figure out what had changed about my face...

Never realized how crucial brows were to a youthful-awake appearance...

A big Thanks to all that shared your solutions, advice, stories...

I finally settled on Benefit's Brow kit... its great , and I feel somewhat better... BUT I still want MY brows BACK laugh.gif

okay a couple things that work... shampoo the eyebrows and eyelashes gently with prescription nizoral, which I did and noticed a large amount of regrowth of both. then I made my dh try it, and he had longer lashes, didn't pay attention to his brows. You have to squint tightly, stand in the shower, shampoo lashes and brows gently, wait a minute while eyes closed, then rinse off.

And then this year I started adding Latisse to my lash and brow program. I started with the lashes, and noticed they lengthened, so then one night there was extra fluid on the little brush, so I rubbed it over both eyebrows, and it works there too! I have to trim my brows now. ! tongue.gif
witsend
I was using the brow kit with the angled brush and all, but then I found a lazier way. There is a Revlon product - Revlon Revlon Colorstay Brow Enhancer -- that is really good. It's a stick form of wax in your choice of colors that you just draw on as if you were using a pencil. There is highlighter on the other end of the stick, but it's not great quality highlighter; ok in a pinch though. But the wax side is really good. I'm not as often inclined to run out the door without doing my brows anymore. Revlon has another brow product that is bad. Can't remember the name of the bad one, but the one you DO want is Colorstay. Economical too. lol
