So many on this board have supported me in this "quest for healing."
I had umbilical hernia surgery on May 19th of last year. I developed a nasty MRSA infection one week later. The wound drained for months and wouldn't close. I saw six surgeons until I found one who was wonderful, truly "held my hand" and saw me through two more surgeries to remove two infected stitches. As soon as the last one was out, the drainage stopped and the wound closed...that was on Dec. 23rd. What a Christmas present! I even got a hug and a kiss from the surgeon - how rare is THAT?
In retrospect I have learned that the body is amazing - it would not close that wound because there was an underlying problem.
That has to be true about this whole hormone issue, too. Until the balance is exactly right, we don't feel right.
I had my big hormonal drop about five years post (summer of 2007) and that was after virtually NO peri symptoms. I lost thirty pounds, had nausea for weeks, cold flashes, tight chest, etc. ,etc,. Now most of that is gone, I eat everything and I'd love to lose ten pounds.
I think that we definitely need to be proactive when going through this - but time is everything.
