Full Version: Hot Flash Timing - a question

I had been lucky and thought I was pretty much getting through with all this stuff, and then last week - BAM it is all back.

But the hot flashes are different this time.

I am getting them very frequently - over and over, sometimes a dozen or more in an hour. But they only last for a minute or so. Is this odd? (oh, hoping I will hear back from several of you who tell me it isn't and I am just in another phase)

Also, note that they started at the same time I had a huge Panic attack, and I have also been having those and a ton of anxiety (along with all the other side issues that go with it) since.

Thanks - Dana

Dana, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about with the changes in your hot flashes. I'm so sorry you're having anxiety though -- certainly that can influence hot flashes. Do you take anything for anxiety? I have Ativan on hand if I need it, and it has been a tremendous help.

I've been flashing for four years, and I'm surprised at how many changes I've gone through. They go in phases, it seems. They have increased in frequency or severity, then quickly vanished. I've gone two or three months without a single episode... then they come back again, but usually different than they were before. I'm now in a phase where I'm getting only three or four a day, and they're very mild, only lasting a minute or so. The phase before this one was horrific though! My face burned red, and I was a furnace from head to toe -- quite an ordeal if I was in public! ohmy.gif

That does make me feel a little better, hearing that they do change. Before, I only had a few a day, but they lasted much longer.

And I understand the public thing - I don't know that I get very red, but my head and neck start sweating profusely. So that I have beads of sweat and my hair is wringing wet.

I do take Buspar - my GYN put me on it about a year and a half ago when all this garbage started. It really did the trick until just recently - especially with the anxiety and panic attacks. I really don't want to go on any kind of hormone therapy unless absolutely necessary.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will run it's course and I will be back to myself in a week or so.

Thank you
