I just read about 'macafem'......it works to stimulate the production of the hormones, it is not HRT or even herbal.
just wondered if anyone has tried it?....and has it worked?

Didn't work for me. At least not as far as I could tell.
I am trying DIM (Di-Indole Methane) at the moment - started only yesterday so a bit soon to tell if it's working yet! This is also a hormone balancer. I have managed to get it in the UK, but I initially read about it on a US website - Young Again. If you check out his articles, he questions the efficacy of Maca and does not include it in his list of products.

I have been taking Macafem for two years now. I started out taking 4 a day for a couple of weeks and then I cut back to two a day (one am one pm). I noticed a huge difference in my mood specifically. I never really suffered from hot flashes but I did have really huge mood swings.
The way I understand it to work is that it nourishes your pituitary gland which in turn allows all of your other hormonal organs to function properly including the thyroid, adrenals, etc. It is not a hormone or a drug and therefore is not supposed to have any of the side affects relative to hormones and drugs.
At the same time I started taking that I started taking Milk Thistle, a B-Complex vitamin, digestive enzymes and probiotics. The reason I added these items is because hormones are supposedly processed through you liver and keeping your liver nourished and healthy and keeping your digestive system working properly, helps balance your hormones and helps your body to excrete excess hormones.
So far I have not noticed any negative things about it and have not found any research or articles stating anything negative about it. I think that different things work for different people..you just have to keep trying to find something that works for you.
Hope this helps.

Is Macafem just a brand of Maca or is it different? Can you look at the bottle and tell me the name of what's in it and how much?
