Any experience with using this supplement? Help with metabolism? Recommendations on where to get? Whenever I google it, I get a million websites trying to sell it and they all say the same thing. Looking for a website that's objective!

Wikipedia has some info, not much as far as the weigh loss angle.

I buy it frozen at Whole Foods, in a product called 'smoothie packs' by Sambazon. It is located with the frozen berries etc. They are little packets of pure, unsweetened pureed acai berries and I blend one with bananas, strawberries, blueberries, soy milk etc. Yum!! It is so good!

I bought into this lock, stock and barrel. Found a distributor, bought 48 bottles, started drinking the stuff, and trying to sell it. Here is my conclusion:

1. It tastes great and probably has a lot of anti-oxidants in it.
2. It is NOT the miracle weight loss product that all these web sites are claiming.
3. You could probably get the same benefit from eating 2 cups of blueberries right from your farmers market.

I think this is semi-scam, and that it will fade in time. There is always some new product out there, claiming to cure everything from cellulite to cancer.

I don't eat acai for weight loss or any other miracle. (I'm one of those peri gals suffering from nausea and needs to gain some weight...) I just cycle acai occasionally in addition to blueberries, strawberries, boysenberries, raspberries, etc. I figure that it is just another good source of antioxidants and why not have it once in awhile!

Costco sells 750mL acai berry juice for $17.99, hubs nagged me for months as his buddy takes it daily, so I got a bottle, taste good, has a bit of sugar, you need a shot glass daily, I will report the results when the bottle is finished. wink.gif.
it is called Braz-a Vie by Fruitology.

I haven't seen acai as a supplement but for about six months, chugged down many bottles of acai juice in a blend with pomegranate or on its own. Someone gave me a trial bottle of the bottle-a-month stuff and I craved it. I am convinced I liked all of these drinks for their sweetness which, to me, was a tip-off to beware of overdoing it. Who knows exactly how much actual acai is in these juices or if there are trace pesticides, no matter what the label says. Seems like acai is the new pomegranate, which was the new blueberry which was the new apple a day. None of this helped with my metabolism.

Several times a year my whole system gets sluggish. I get my metabolism kick-started by first using Zand's one week gentle cleanse. For that week, I eat small amounts of steel cut oats, non-roughage fruits & vegetables, and light meat or fish. After that, a more balanced diet with a little bit of healthy fat like olive oil. I always drink loads of decaf green tea. With all that and a 3x week workout, my 'corpse-like' metabolism will come to life. I have found that steady intake of green tea through the day is really beneficial to my metabolism, more so than just plain water. Not too expensive either.

No clue but I am sick of all the stupid emails trying to sell it to me!!!

I thought about starting an acai thread but I didn't bother because I felt certain there would primarily be negative input. My husband and I have been drinking one ounce of acai juice in the morning and one ounce in the evening for the last six months and we are both convinced that it helps us with our energy level. In late December, after all the busyness of the holiday season, we had forgotten to place our regular order, ran out, and had to wait for our shipment. During this time we noticed a marked return to lethargy and fatigue. We plan on using it indefinitely even though I'm sure there are all kinds of reasons not to. I know it helps me feel better than I have for quite a while.

V8 now has a product at the grocer. I am buying it. it is 2.99 at Wally World. We(DH and I) are on our 2nd bottle. I do notice that it curbs my appetite. I might be getting more energy??? I will see. I bought 2 back up bottles.

there is a lady that is working hard to get me under her pyramid. I run the other way when I see her.

Acai is a great anti-oxidant fruit and all and very delicious, but as a weight loss/cleanse thing? Big scam that is generating a lot of spam e-mails with these fake blogs, etc. For weight loss you're better off buckling down with a very clean diet that doesn't have refined carbohydrates in it, and a good bit more exercise, both weight-training and cardio - plenty of the latter, like 4-5 days a week, for 45 minutes at a challenging intensity.
