I am 50 and going through assorted symptoms throughout the years. Most recently has been leg twitchng and skin crawlies on my legs at night. Last month, 3 days before my period, my right arm became numb, weak and alot of weakness in my hand. I went to the chiropractor and after a few days, it went away. It just started again today and I looked at the calendar and I am 6 days late to start my period. Of course, being a nurse, I am thinking the worst like MS or ALS. I have been a hormonal basket case all day. Can anyone relate

I'm 51 now, but when I was 50 I had an episode that sounds very similar to yours. I woke up one morning and my right arm was numb and my wrist wasn't strong enough to lift up my hand. It was all like dead weight. Freaked me out bigtime!!!!!!!!! I'm a musician!!!!!!!!! I tried to write and had trouble using the pen...etc. I didnt' have the "oooph" in my hand to make it feel comfortable enough to work right. The doctor sent me out for a CAT scan to rule out anything.....the tests came back normal. I think I slept on my arm and slightly damaged a nerve. I was better by that evening and back to normal the next day.
In my opinion, it seems we have all these little trials and tribulations we go thru that scare the hell out of us for a few days and then they disappear as mysteriously as they came. I mean, I still get numb hands and arms....(I also have CFS and fibro so that's to be expected)...but I NEVER have had another scary episode like the one where my hand felt "dead". The doctor blamed it on me sleeping on it.......and we even went so far as to have more tests.......with a neuro............nerve conduction tests. All normal.
Just to be on the safe side, I would check with your doctor. But lots of these creepy, strange symptoms which are ALL a mystery to me and all quite new, seem to be peri related in some way. I call them "My Rite Of Peri Passage." lol Oh joy......lol
Hope you feel better soon!

It's always smart to start with a check-up, but it sounds to me like what so many of us have experienced. It could be a pinched nerve too. I wouldn't be too concerned, let it go for two weeks and see how you are. If it continues, get ti checked, at least for peace of mind.

Did your muscle weakness and twitching ever go away? For the last weak I have had muscle weakness and twirching in my arms and legs and I am also having alot of fatigue. I had bloodwork done all was normal and I am having a mri on my brain Friday. I also scare myself into big time anxiety attacks over this. I am 52 and wonder if this all has to do with hormones.

I have muscle weakness a lot lately, I am also 52. I bend down to pick something up or get on my knees to clean something off the carpet (between the 4 year old grandson and the cat's hairballs, I'm always cleaning up something). A lot of times I can't get back up by myself. My legs, knees don't have the strength. Hormones, need more exercise or just old age? It's all so frustrating!

My muscle weakness was better then fell into cycles. It is back big time now. Skin is all twitchy, my arms feel so heavy and my legs feel like they cannot hold me up. Just had blood work done and I basically have no progesterone and little estrogen. I just read that the imbalance of too much estrogen to P can cause these symptoms and restless leg which I have. I thought for sure I have some horrible crippling disease and then I goggled "34 symptoms of menopause" and found some info that really made my convinced that this is all peri.
