I just had an episode and not sure what it was. I was pretty anxious and depressed last week, but this morning have felt surprisingly good. No fuzzy head or not too much of anything. It is cold here this morning and I have my space heater on to warm me up which seemed to work except for my fingers which were still extremely cold. Then all of a sudden my head started feeling full and I got a sort of faint in my head feeling. The sounds were muffled and my head felt full. Then my heart started racing and heat started coming up through my head. It only lasted a few seconds and now I feel fine except a little shaken. This has happened a couple of times in the last couple of weeks during the night. I wouldn't feel completely awake so I wasn't sure what was going on.

Dear'sunnylou'

This sounds like a panic attack to me.I have had similar symptoms and it is distressing.Deep ,slow breathing helps plus the practice of Yoga.Stay away from caffeine and sugary products as these can make us jittery.

If the panic gets too bad have a word with your Doctor about using Xanax as needed. It acts quickly and is very calming. There are probably some Herbal Products that might help too but am not sure what they are but am sure the great Ladies on this Forum will have some suggestions.

Hope this helps
Warm Wishes

I dont' what to call it, but I know I have had it many times. I feel it may be a hot flash that causes panic or vice versa. Either way, it feels awful, no matter what it's called. Yes, xanax helps relax me either way. I would give it a try. It really works.

I hope you feel better.

Sounds just like some of the hot flashes I get. I don't think it's a panic attack.... especially since you said it lasted only a few seconds.

How wierd. There must be something in the air. I had a near fainting spell at work. It felt like a hot flash coming on, then all of a sudden I became breathless & very dizzy & my heart pounded. I sat down for a few minutes & had some diet coke. Slowly felt better, but soooooooo tired. My hot flashes are out of control & getting sweatier & sweatier. They make me queasy & I can't sleep for more than a couple of hours w/out waking up sweaty & out of breath. Holy hot flash!!!! I felt like I had cotton in my head all day.

Thanks guys. I have had panic attacks before but they usually last longer and I get where I can't catch my breath, and wierd head spins, and lots of other wierd stuff with them. I am taking lexapro to help with the anxiety so it may have calmed the panic attacks down somewhat. I don't know anymore. I try to take the stance where something has to happen everyday for two weeks before I get too worried about it. And there is usually something wierd happening everyday but it changes.
