Hi everyone. I am a newbie. I have visited this site before, but now I have so many unanswered questions. I am having a hysterecomy this week and I will be facing menopause head on. At 40 I knew I have had many symptoms of premenopause such as the panic attacks, hot flashes and the great anxiety attacks, but I have no clue for what lies ahead for me other thatn that. Yes, I am scared. Maybe some of yous have had a hysterectomy and had to go into menopause early and maybe I have some advise for me. I would really appreciate any support I can get. I am freaking out at this point. sad.gif

Hi

Please do not be worried about your hysterectomy. I assume you are having it for medical reasons.
My mother had one around 42 -45 as did many of my aunts for perimenopause type issues and never
looked back. My mother thinks it is one of the best things she ever did!
I also have a number of friends at a similar age and younger who have had one and have
also wished they had had one sooner.

Me, I am 42 and coping best I can with my perimenopause. Unlike my mother I have also
had endometriosis most of my life, so probably can cope with the bleeding issues and pain etc
a little better. However if I am not done by 45 I will probably have one myself.

However I feel I am now in the middle to latter stages of peri, so may just be able to
weather the storm a little longer.

Please do not be afraid, this can be a very positive thing in your life.
You will feel like a new woman, I am sure biggrin.gif

I had my hyster in September, but kept the ovaries. You may get lucky and have no symptoms of meno at all, think positive and we can all say our prayers, or wish you well that you come out on the better side of the peri/meno struggles.

Don't worry about the hyster, most feel 100 times better after having it done! Besides the peri symptoms over all I feel great after having mine.

As you say you will be facing menopause I assume you will be having your ovaries removed also? I had a TAH/BSO three years ago so I went straight into a surgical menopause. I was not allowed HRT as I had cancer so I cannot say that it has been an easy ride for me but it is different for everyone. Many other women say they feel great especially once they heal from the surgery and get on to HRT.
Good luck with the surgery-you will be fine- and let us know how you are getting on.

Best wishes
