HI Ladies,

Hope everyones Christmas went well....

Just a question, is there anyone who has come down with menieres (sp) during this time and truly believe they have it...I say this because i did a search and some really don't think the Dr. is right in the diagnoses.

I am beginning to wonder myself because I have had dizzies for some time now and yes it did seem to role around as things got to be their worse, but I also have others feelings as well that go along with this menieres thing.... I have really been making my best effert to role with these changes, and have made great progress, but this dizzy thing has taken alot away from me and find it hard to believe it is all hormonal right now.

Beyond just woozie headedness I get this dropping feeling and it is very abrupt, seems to be no warning just a sudden very intense feeling like the world just went upside down and it is so fast my eyes or brain don't seem to register it right away...literally a second. My reaction without thought is I shut my eyes, hold my head and stay that way for a few seconds. Something funny seems to happen to my eyes I don't know what, but they feel pulled or crossed during this very quick episode and I feel pulled( like an invisable force is pulling me down) one way either L. or R. I have had these things happen over the course of 5 or so years, bit when it started it was mild and very rare, maybe once a year, now it is more frequent and I seem to have a almost constant instability, with several bout of down right room spinnning vertigo along with this quick spin or "drop attack" to a lesser degree. I have noticed fullness so much in my eras at times I wonder if they could burst, whoshing sounds that catch me by suprise to where i think it is coming from outside of me and look around, ringing out of the blue, pain in ears of and on, and newest over the past few months is actaul hearing loss for brief periods, I could just be standing minding my own business when it suddenly feels like an earplug was put in my ear....this last for about 15 seconds and then it goes back to normal. I struggle to write this off as meno anymore. I had an mri done a couple of yearsa go and it was normal, went to an ent who if he wasn't so busy trying to play couselor for what ever reason....lets help the crazy woman mentality he may have found something, but didn't and I didn't have as many symptoms along with it then either...it just has progressivly gotten worse. Christmas day I had such a quick attack while driving with my husband it really scared me enough to address it again, my R.ear hurt aftger and my head suddenly became full, I was mid sentence and I just quick grabbed my head and closed my eyes and though oh my gosh what was that.....seiezure crossed my mind at that point....not a good thought.

I am always swollen lately and know menieres is a fluid problem so wonder if that is why it could be more likely to show up now, anyway any advice?

I have an appt with a dr. from our new network in Jan. for a annual and don't know how I shoulod approach this subject without her making a decision before she really looks. tahnks Mikki

HI Sun,

I suffer from vertigo and feel the same way at times also, I Don't know if it goes along with peri or meno.(Maybe some will know better.) With me it started when I was prego with DS#4.(age 30) It seems to be worse for me at allergy and cold season, stuff will fill up in my head and them WHAM! I'm on the floor. I take anithistamenes (sp) and a nap when I feel it comming. I'm glad that you have a doc appt. Just let her know what you said here, so she can rule out anything you may be worried about. I don't know if I made you feel any better, but I have felt like you have.

I have had the same thing last week, twice and it freaked me out. It lasted only seconds, but the anxiety form it lingered on for hours.I know I have TMJ and when it is bad the dizzies get worse, but that dropping feeling is the pits. It is so frightening and hard to describe. I think it's hormonal, I can go on and on for days doing thins and that feeling fine and then it hits, so I believe it's an estrogen drop or something like that. My ear gets full as well and I had an mri two years ago and all was clear and just went to the ENT who was not the least bit concerned either.

Good luck.

Hi Sunflower,

I truly do feel for you. I had a horrible bout with things similar to what you are experiencing. The worst was the one you explained about the sudden feeling of spinning and not knowing what is up or down. I had this happen one time when I was driving, scared me to death. It lasted only a very brief moment, but I lost control of everything for a few seconds, felt like a stroke or seizure had hit me.

But, the difference is that I did not get any hearing impairment, so I am wondering if it could be meniers (sp)? I agree that "fluid" is part of the problem, so perhaps start taking some vit E or B complex which helps get rid of fluid. I'm glad that you will see the doctor, hopefully he is up on this type of problem, I had a heck of a time with doctors back when I was suffering.

Does rest seem to help you??? I always felt better when I could rest. Stress seemed to make it worse for me. I also took "antivert" which is for motion sickness. It helped.

The whole thing is exhausting, it just tires you out to feel "dizzy" all day. I am hopeful that you will get some relief soon.

Hugs, Juliann

Thanks,

I just hope this other Dr. doesn't just go "eh it must be anxiety" or not even look at all, I always get antsy when going to a new DR. becasue my track record lately with appt's that have gone bad is pretty good.

I think I get fuzzy headed when I don't rest well, but when I am dizzy for hours I am just wiped out. There is a difference between fuzzy and my dizzy spells.

I do have allergies to dust and the allergist said they are pretty bad according to my skin test......my son moved out a month ago and I finally went into his room and cleaned....oh my it must have been so dusty I couldn't be in there for more than 5 minutes untill I got it cleaned out. I wondered if this is contributing since we have been cooped up again for winter. Anyway thanks again mIkki

I have also experienced dizziness. Last year I fell several times ! I don't know if it's better now or I'm just getting used to it and being more careful. I think it's just one of those awful symptoms of aging.

Balance is derived from fluid in chambers in the inner ear and the brain's interpretation of the fluid touching the surfaces of the chambers. I'm not sure if the loss of balance is due to some problem with the fluid or chambers, or a problem with the brain's interpretation.

Hi there

I have had a similar experience. When I was feeling really bad a couple of months ago while out shopping in a large store. Only for me it was more like an invisible screen had been put around me and I was having great difficulity walking. My legs became heavy. I think I was having a panic attack because I felt as though everyone was staring at me! I have also had the same problem with my ears. For me it was like someone had put a plug of jelly in my ears and then pulled it out. It was kind of echoey or like I was in a tunnel. Its hard to describe. I have had so many symptoms over the past few months its no wonder I get so miserable with it all. This www is great and very helpful.
