OH DARN! I am so tired of this!!!!! I still have this right knee pain thing ... it's around the knee, it's also on that bone that runs up the side of the knee, on the outside of the leg! This is not good! I am mid cycle right now...and I know i'm ovulating! I've had this though for about maybe, a month...there are days it's better, and days it's worse! I take Advil, and rub BEN GAY on it all the time, but still, it hurts to bend it, like something feels out of place ..... it feels "sort of" swollen....but doesn't look it... I dont know. Sometimes heat helps, sometimes not.

Ladies,,,,,,okay, if this IS hormonal....how long would someting like this last? Please tell me your leg and knee pain stories....lol...I know that sounds funny, but I need to know what to expect here!!!!!

thanks everyone!

md i am sorry your having pain i can relate to it. Try having it for 8 months now lol i have knee pain behind left knee and around knee cap, it does get puffy at times. Had mri showed nothing but swelling and fluid doctor thinks arthritis but we had more test done now to get results which will proabably be nothing. i got use to it i can't stand vey long on leg until i need to rest it. i don't take pain pills i just let it be. i do have a elastic knee brace but the pressure from it hurts knee more.Maybe you shoud see a orthopedic doctor just to make sure you didn't hurt it in someway. I wish you luck hugs Terry

So sorry to hear about your leg pain, believe me,I know what you are going through. Mine started about 6 or 8 months ago. My pain sounds exactly like yours. Exrays say I have osteo arthritis in my knee, but I have not had an MRI yet. I refuse to take the anti-inflamatorys they gave me because of the side effects. But I do take Advil or Tylenol occasionally. I don't have that much pain though, just alot of trouble getting up and down, bathing, and slow walking. I am so slowed down by it, it depresses me. I am thinking about going back to doctor and insisting on MRI to see exactly what the problem is, but really don't want surgery at my age (55), just keep hoping it will go away, but I doubt it. Please keep in touch. Hope yours gets better. I am in peri I guess. I only have had 3 periods this year so far. Went a whole nine months and then started again. Really *****.

to Everyone with this wretched leg pain!! I have it too mad.gif

I will join the osteoarthritis of the knee club too. It is tough when it's damp and cold. I believe it's in my ankles now too, and big toes!!! One side is worse than the other, going from the knee down. Check online on for exercises for knee arthritis. If you do them faithfully, they work.

feel better.

hi ladies,

i still have this knee "ache", and I am seeing my dr. soon about this, but in the meantime, what do you girls do for this? THIS JUST STARTED UP ONE DAY OUT OF THE BLUE! Is that how osteoarthritis starts? You'd think there'd be some kind of build up. Now, I know by now, that this hormonal changing can MIMIC so many things, to where you really think you HAVE that particular illness .... so I wonder if that could be it too, bec. I know that peri can really make your legs ache, or be outright painful. I suppose the x-rays will tell the truth, but then again, I know of two other women, who were TOLD (from x-rays) that they had osteo, and THEY DIDNT'! It wasn't till they went to other specialists, that they found that out. For one of the ladies, believe it or not, IT WAS HORMONAL! The other woman, had a problem with some other kind of degenerative condition, that apparently runs in her family, but it WASN'T osteo! Oh boy, this is so darn stressful!!!!!!

I rub BEN GAY on it, like I have said before, and take ADVIL, i'm thinking, not only for the pain, but for any inflamation.
It has it's good days, and its bad.....and from what I've read, that is how osteo works. But then again, that is ALSO how PERI works on your joints and muscles too! SO, HERE WE GO!!!!!!!

I need to vent! I can't even believe this! I know, maybe that sounds silly of me, but I've never had anything wrong with me....NEVER! Now, I feel like I'm completley degenerating right before my eyes....... I'm not saying that all you girls aren 't in the same boat, you are......and I am so darn thankful for all of you!!!!! Some of you guys, have it much worse, and my heart goes out to you! I guess, right now, with the THOUGHT that this might be osteo.....Im kind of freaking out! To ME........that is something that affects OLD people......lol...I know, it's not really.....but you know when you were little, and you'd see OLD women limping along, and your mother would say that that poor old woman, has "arthritis"......yeah, well now......THAT MAY BE ME! Hey, also, just another thing.......I should tell you that it ALSO kind of aches around the top of the knee (that muscle right above the knee, that goes up the thigh), and also, on the soft part of the knee cap - not so badly there though).....it gets VERY stiff when I sit to long, say at the computer.....now, does that sound like osteo,,,,or some other peri "junk"? ........ OK, I'm sorry, I don't mean to whine ......just venting i guess!

thank you for listening! sad.gif

I have had knee problems for most of this past year. They feel sort of "out" and have actually swollen up a bit.

I don't think it is a menopause symptom just a getting older symptom.

My chiro gave me an exercise to do which strengthens the muscles which hold the kneecap in place. It's helped.

Also take cod liver oil and glucosamine for the joints. That's helped too.

I meant to also mention above: get one of those neoprene knee supports that just pull on. I wear one while driving, on the worst affected knee (the left). I didn't realise how effective it was until I stopped wearing it for a day or two.
