Full Version: Crashing Fatigue
Power Surge Forums > Board Discussions > Am I Starting Perimenopause?

On and off now I've had what I think is "crashing fatigue" - kinda feels like how you feel about an hour after eating sugar or drinking coffee - like the opposite of a sugar rush. It comes and goes all the time for a few days, I go from feeling OK then this sort of crashing/draining feeling then OK again. Is this what crashing fatigue means or is this a more constant thing? It's not really helped by lots of sleep (although my sleep is somewhat disturbed on and off anyway due to this whole peri thing). Anyone else get this?

I get this regularly as well.....so exhausted at times it's horrible. I do believe it is from hormone changes and this whole menopause journey. I hope things get better for you soon. Perhaps making some lifestyle changes if you haven't already such as getting rest, exercise, stress reduction and eating healthy would help.

Hugs,
Karen

I think that you are spot on with the 'crashing fatigue' thing. I have read about ladies who have suffered this over and over again on these boards.

You are in good company.

My fatigue started in earnest about two months after my last period. I have never felt tiredness like it. I reverted to being a toddler who needed a couple of naps per day. At times I felt so tired that if someone had shouted FIRE, I would have just turned over and continued to sleep. wink.gif

Any journeys in the car as a passenger quickly degenerated into a fly catching session, mouth open head back. Snorrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Trying to wake up after one of these deep fatigue sessions was challenging to say the least! I used to feel like a blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif ZOMBIE. blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

Sometimes it seemed as though my body were so tired that I was forgetting to breathe. Now that was a bit scary. ohmy.gif The amount of sleep I got at night made no difference to these crashes and they were almost impossible to ignore. The life just seemed to drain out of me.

I blame it all on the thyroid and the hypothalamus but who knows. We are certainly not making the symptoms up!

Gradually my energy is returning which is a great relief. It is now over a year since my last period and my Christmas celebrations this year were not hindered by the need to snooze!

Another one here. I was cooking dinner on Christmas eve and nodding off over the cooker! Thought it was maybe to do with a flu that had been going around which caused weakness and tiredness as one of its symptoms, but maybe not.

I have the crashing fatigue too.....I have nodded off at the computer a couple of times too!!. Nowadays I try to do what I can in the mornings ....... make the evening meal after lunch and then take a nap around 3 oclock. I give in to what peri is doing to me~~I dont fight it anymore. If I feel sleepy I sleep!! Drinking water helps me with the fatique when I am working and cant take a nap.

I get this sometimes too. It feels like I can do nothing and it seems to hit me suddenly most of the time. I can be doing what I normally and all of the sudden I feel so tired and sleepy that I HAVE to lay down. then after an hour or so, I can get up, with difficulty, and get going again. This is not an everyday occurance so maybe it has something to do with ou r cycles?

I dont know. I just blamed it on peri and try to go with the flow. UGH!
