I have had very few symptoms of peri so far other than very heavy bleeding but in the past week or so I have been experiencing a strange sensation and wonder if these are the infamous hot flashes. It isn't really a feeling of heat but more like there is something smothering my face or like I need to get some fresh air. When it hits, I find myself pulling off my sweater but it quickly passes and I feel chilly or normal again within seconds. This is happening about four times a day. Coincidentally, my period is overdue when all this started. Thoughts?

I am not sure if this is a hotflash or not. Mine usually start either in my gut or in my legs and spread up and out. Sometimes I sweat like crazy and sometimes not! Everyone is different and responds differently to peri/meno. It would not hurt to talk to your doctor.
Hope this helps you some.

orngkat06, if you know you're peri, I would say it's likely you are experiencing very mild flashes.
I have had several different kinds of hot flashes over the years, I can count at least 4 types . For several years in my early 40's I would get way overheated doing things that normally would have made me feel just warm, e.g. while shopping in a hot store or hurrying through an airport on a warm muggy day, and I wouldn't be able to cool down unless I stripped off clothing or went to a really cool place. I had that type for a couple of years.

I have experienced the smothering sensation. If I was inside, I would go outside. If I was in a care, I would roll down a window and it would relieve that feeling. This happened long before I walked through the doors of peri.

Of course, all tests were normal and I was diagnosed with anxiety attacks. Hope this helps.
Take care.

If I was in a car....GEEZ! Can you tell I'm in peri?
