It has been a while since I have been here...but I need reassurance badly and I know from reading tons of posts this is the place to get it.

Before you respond, though, please realize I have anxiety due to being a hypochondriac and cannot take someone telling me I have a brain tumor, multiple sclerosis, etc biggrin.gif ... any other positive word you have for me is fine, though.

I have read a few responses here and there on this subject and was not sure whether to put this post under headaches/shaking b/c it could defintely be migraine related OR internal shaking related. My main goal is to have someone post in reply telling me "it happens to me....you are not going to die.....", etc. LOL

ANyway, long story short a hysterectomy one year ago...two eye docs (had to get that second opinion!!) diagnosed me with migraines. I am currently on no medication except OTC b/c the last one gave me weird side effects..waiting till the new year to try out Topomax. Last night I had this strange rubber band snap /buzz type feeling in my head...anxiety kicked in...I was fine after I settled down. It did not hurt at all. Maybe lasted 2-3 seconds.

I did the search engine on this site and found one woman who said this happened to her....even found people explaining this same feeling to a "T", but in a different part of their body. I also found one post where a lady explained getting a "fullness" feeling in her head that went away as quickly as it came.

Perhaps this needs to go in the headache area, but thought I would try here, too.

Again, thanks for the encouragement. I really need to hear truthfully that someone else has experienced this and I don't need to start making funeral arrangements as a reulst of my tumor. wink.gif

It happens to me - you are not going to die! laugh.gif

Really - I get this sensation! Usually it is tied to my sinuses and allergies...sometimes tension from stress.....

I also get it when the weather is changing - I am a slave to the barometer!

Try not to worry the more you do the more tense you become and the more likely it is to happen....

Now, if only I could take my own advice! wink.gif

madnmas:

Yes, I have had this very thing and still have occasionally. I describe it as a rubber band snap, a zap. It comes out of nowhere. I notice a very slight increase in the zaps when I am having hot flashes.

Trust me you are not alone with this. Do a search on "zaps" and see just how many of us there are on this site.

I cannot give you a medical reason as to why these take place, but it has got to be hormones, anxiety and with some ladies, withdrawals from certain medications. Please do not google symptoms. This will only build your health anxiety.

Hope this helps.

Bella

What's weird is that I am on HRT and it has cured my hot flashes. I guess I don' understand how you can still have symptoms of menopause even being on the hormones. smile.gif

But there I have it...two ladies that have felt a head zap/rubber band snap....I feel better. smile.gif

Man, this menopause is kicking my butt. I am a year out of the surgery and it just seems like everything is starting to surface...even BEING on the hormones. My hair is falling out in clumps and I am knows for my thick hair.....migraines have started (but never had migraines before).....heart palps returned after being gone for a long time....

Thank you and thank you for this site.

Isn't it amazing how much better you feel when you know other people experience the same thing..as odd as the symptom is? I remember one time this girl made a post about heart palps...how they seem to come about whenever you bend down. That happened to me, too, but I would have never thought in a million years I would ask that b/c people would think I was a nut....but oh, the number of women that replied. It was amazing!

I always ask my husband..."Have you ever felt_________" He'll tell me yes and I then I get excited. He's like "Why are you happy when we have the same unhealthy symptom?" LOL!!! biggrin.gif

Hey mad:

I get these too and have no idea why. I have also been diagnosed with migraines with auras. the auras are terrible but nonlifethreatening, just annoying and anxiety causing.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs to you,

I get them too, and they still scare me half to death. I even feel them in my , (dont' laugh) stomach. Strange, huh? I ALWAYS think I am dying from a horrible disease and it is not a good feeling. These past two years have brought my anxiety to a whole new level and it is downright scary. It is also reassuring when other people have it too, I totally understand that.

I've been feeling all these odd things for two and a half years and they come and go. I have been tested and retested, yet, still elieve they are missing something. I know I've been a hypochondriac too, but who wouldn't when they just dont' feel like ?

Hang in there, YOu are not alone.

OK--so how is dizziness/high-headedness related to a rise in the barometer? I can't seem to find any information about this. Is this just a old wives' tale?

(A little reassurance sure goes a long way.)

Thanks--

moteach - I am a SLAVE to the barometer - sinuses go wonky and the pressure makes my dizzy and foggy - not pleasant - sorry you have to deal with it too! dry.gif if it's not one thing.....

I get this also. Right now I am having serious issues with the dizzies. It is driving me nuts and scaring me too! I do not think you need to worry too much. Menopause brings on a lot of weird stuff. I am starting to realize (or at least I think) that the head issues with me, dizzies, headache, fullness have something to do with the bareatric pressure in the air. Most days are fine then BAM it hits. I can ride most of it through without fear...most days.

Dear Madnmas

It is interesting what you wrote because a lot of people seem to have the assumption that HRT is a cure all for all but as I know first hand this is not the case.Yes it does alleviate some symptoms but I still get an odd hot flash, bouts of insomnia plus occassional high anxiety.

The only thing I have never had, thank God,is the palps which I imagine are upsetting to say the least

For me being on HRT has helped me cope.I have tried for a yesr without but was awful.I am still middled aged with all my doubts and insecurities but on the whole life is pretty good.Don't ever consider yourself a nut.1You are a woman coping as best she can

Warm Wishes

Hi,

Be sure to get your thyroid checked because losing hair and palpitations are some of the symptoms of a problem.
