I do the same thing. I just buzz it off with a electric razor. Waxing breaks me out. Hair remover cream burns my skin and there is no way I can pluck all of that fuzz, so I buzz it off. I was so weirded out by the thought of using a razor on my face until I found that I knew several people who do the same and have for years! It won't grow back thicker and it's quick fix. I bought a $10 electric razor and it works great. No more sideburns or goatee!

Do you get visible stubble when it starts growing back ? My facial hairs sparkle in certain light, I'm afraid sparkly stubble might actually look worse than sparkly fuzz. :-)

Only if I do not remove it every day or two. I know that sounds like too much, but I figure I brush my teeth everyday and it takes about as long to buzz off the fuzz, so I just do it everyday.

There's also a product called EpiLady. It looks like a small electric razor but it works a bit differently than a regular man's razor. It pulls the hair out from it's root instead of chopping it off at the surface. So, the hairs take much longer to grow in and there's no stubble.
My sister uses one and loves it. I don't think they're expensive and you probably would find it in a department store or large pharmacy.
You can't use it on your brows though.
libbyl.....my sister also did many rounds of laser treatments for a couple of areas on her face and it did work some, but she stopped because it was terribly expensive.

Ahhh, EpiLady. I forgot about that thing. It's probably as painful as waxing (or manual plucking, if you could pluck that fast !), but without the skin irritation.
I'm about ready to try shaving. (looking at myself in my evil 10x magnifying mirror) Jesus, I have a veritable sparkly goatee going on here ! I might try shaving the 'stache first and see what happens.

I think it depends on how much hair we're talking about here! I have very fine, blonde, hairs on my upper lip, and I shave them (I already posted that once on another thread and HATE posting it twice LOL

) No problems at all. It works perfectly for me. BUT if I had thicker hair on my upper lip, I'm not sure I would shave.
Try shaving a very small patch of hair somewhere on your face and see what happens!! Give your face the shave test!! LOL

I would classify my goatee and 'stache as being fine but longish. I always had the fuzz, but now it's longer, and apparently some (most ?) of it has turned from blonde to silver, thus the sparkles. :-) I think I will try the patch test ! I might have a drink first. Or on second thought, that might be a bad idea ! LOL

I came across an article regarding spearmint tea and excessive hair during menopause. I have not tried it myself, so cannot give you an opinion.

Lol...

watch out for Boo she's coming through lol

... I just found out about something called Magic that is also good for facial hair. It comes in a cream or powder that you mix up...it's for men but doesn't cause the facial hair bumps.... I picked some up today getting ready for the luteal phase, will let you know how it goes! I found it at the Dollar Store but you can also find it in drug stores and Walmart!
Some women on the PCOS board were discussing it so I also purchased some for my niece!
Full Speed Ahead!

Hi everybody!
I am47 years old and in perimenopause. I've always had some facial hair but I was able to deal with it until I reached peri. The hair has been getting out of control lately, affecting my life quality very severely. Has anyone had the same experience?
Are there any chances that the hair will slow down a bit after you become post menopausal?
If anyone had the same experience, please report back.

Dear Mary,
In some cases it gets worse because your estrogen levels are dropping and testosterone are rising. However, you can try flax seed 2 T. twice a day to increase your estrogen levels to start. My friends have had more success with the flax seed than the flax oil but that is also an option!
Best of Luck!

Thank you Skeeweeaka for your advice. I prefer natural remedies myself, so I've decided to give flax a try. I've bought some flaxseed today and I've ground it with a coffee grinder then I put 2 teaspoonfuls into my cereals. It doesn't have a bad taste at all. I also drink spearmint tea and red raspberry tea because I have read that those might help as well. How long does it take for natural remedies to work? I would be so happy if one day I saw results. I don't expect the hair to go away completely but if it were at least reduced I would be glad.

Dear Mary,
If really depends on your body and your hormones. Some of the women I know noticed a difference in a couple of weeks in terms of the density of the hair growth but definitely after a month they noticed a significant change!
Yes, natural remedies rock!
Best Wishes,

Thank you. You give me hope. I'll keep eating ground flaxseeds, it isn't difficult to add them to my meals and see what happens. I'll keep you posted about the results.
