girlsmom
I had an appointment with a Rhumatologist today about this bilaterla elbow pain I have been having. After my exam, we sat down and went over the different blood work my Dr. has done over the past year or so. A little more than a year ago I asked him to test my hormones. When it came back he told me that everything looked normal. (end of conversation)
The Dr. Today, as I mentioned being exhausted, looked at my test and said "Well it is clear that you are in perimenopause by the blood work done last year" BINGO!!! Did my Dr. mean normal and fine as in normal and fine for my age? He left me with the impression I was not in peri by way of hormone tests.
My jaw dropped. As I saw the range (don't ask what they are) it was clear to me s well.
So, I now will not try to challenge my tiredness anymore and can almost manage a wicked grin knowing that there really is a reason behind it all.

Hi girlsmom,
That's exactly what my Doc said to me a couple of years ago when I was feeling peri symptoms. He said I was fine and results were normal. To him that meant that my levels were doing what they were supposed to for a woman my age and with my symptoms.
Only this year (50, no period for 7 months) did he announce to me that I was menopausal. He never did use the words pre or peri. I don't think they are really versed in that stage of this game.
So, now you know!
Lots makes sense now, doesn't it?

Interresting...I guess that is what my Dr meant too. lol!!!
Thank God I don't feel bad. Felt much worse 2 years ago. No hotflashes (just cold ones ;-), Periods are getting further apart, perhaps every 30-32 days with spotting starting around day 25-28. Usual cramping, freq. urination but I sleep great (my most treasured time of day). Just if this tiredness, and forgetting names (forgot my neighbours name last week) losing things (my Moms diamond wedding band for starters:(((((, I am o.k.
Did the fatigue get worse for you as peri went on or did it manage to settle at some point? That is the one huge issue I have and being alone with 3 Girls, I am tired out anyway...

Hey there,
Yes, for me unfortunately sleep became a problem probably really bad around 5 years ago. I'd have really good nights then a few bad nights in a row, then I started having night sweats a year ago and they kept me awake most of the night every night of the week.
That's when I decided to try BHRT. The progesterone really helped me to sleep because it stopped the sweats, but I felt terribly groggy most of the next day.
If you're feeling great now, then I'd just carry on and enjoy! You are a lucky gal.

Thanks Cathy,
I am only 46 so I don't know what the future holds but know that because of one of my breasts, hormones are out of the question. Taking something plant based for a year now and believe it really helps (but the fatigue..... ohmy.gif )
I hope tonight will be a good night for you smile.gif
Thanks for your help!!
